You couldn't have stated it better. It's like saying a meteorite shower is coming to earth, except this is BYOND, and the meteorite shower is composed of all the rips that are (in opinion) ruining BYOND. | |

When I wrote that I was thinking of the future of byond, in otherwords somewhere along the lines of 'DYOND' (Destory Your Own Net Dream). What i'am seeing is totally chaotic! | |
I find it funny that they're ridiculed for being the only people to take action against a game that turns BYOND into a mockery. Personally, I'm glad someone finally actually did something (whether or not it was bad or will hurt BYOND in the future) because they care about BYOND. The staff ignored everybody's pleas for a change in rules to get this jerk to stop abusing the ranking system, so they took matters into their own hands.
Sure, you can't constantly police these things, but you can create a better system that can't be abused so badly that a game gets advertised as BYOND'S SECOND BEST GAME by the BYOND WEBSITE relying solely on an abusive strategy! Seeing a rip in the top 10 isn't nearly as infuriating, it's the fact that this guy got up there by abusing his users. | |
Whether Goditz abused his users or not (I really don't think he did; although the IP banning for joining other naruto games is going a bit too far...), I must say that NBotLS is the most popular game I've seen on BYOND, and I believe it deserves it's rank.

I don't feel this had anything to do with what was good for BYOND. They seen an easy target and they attacked it knowing that no one would really care (and a few would even be impressed).
There's nothing in this plan to stop people abusing the ranking system. There isn't even anything in this plan to stop Goditz cheating the system. People could already play/make their own Naruto games which were pretty much the same thing. Odds are they could even get more power in the other games selling their votes (and best of all the other games don't check your favourites weekly so you can acquire a bonus for voting then move to the next and do the same thing). If someone was acting as a vigilante to actually stop rips and the flaws in the ranking system I wouldn't be upset at all. I even like the idea of bad things happening to bad people. I just think the people who did this are just as bad as the scum they claim to be fighting. | |
Okay, please, everyone, stop saying making Naruto rips, a mere Anime game created on BYOND, will destroy a website. It will not do anything, it will not kill anybody, crash the website, blow up someone's house, etc., it will just add a page or two extra of Naruto games. Sure, this will get annoying, but it will wear out. It will just be a matter of time. Stop careing so much.
Pagemaster, what are you seeing that is "totally chaotic"? Naruto games appearing on BYOND? Please, give me a break. I do NOT see what the big deal is here. If the source was given out, then this was expected. If the source code was somehow stolen through "hacking" or whatever the hell you want to call it, then yes, action should be taken and the controversey this is getting would be reasonable, but as it stands, you are all over-exaggerating. Just wait for the next big Anime to come up, then you will see that flooding the HUB, but until then, you will see tons of Naruto rips. You do not have to enter the Unpublished section. I do not even dare click the link. I stick with the published games. Once in a blue moon I will check out the Unpublished section to see what is new and what is going on. Stop complaining about people ripping Naruto. If you honestly care that much, do something about it, such as creating an original Naruto game that is breathtaking and mind-blowing to all Naruto fanatics and they will all swarm to that game like a flock of seagels. That will get rid of the rips. The owners of the rips might even join your game and abandoned their rips. Trust me, you do this, and the rips will be gone. Remember, it cannot be just an ordinary Naruto game similar to the rips, it has to be programmed efficiently, be both breathtaking and mind-blowing, and the graphics have to be decent, along with amazing gameplay. Do not tell people you care, show them. One of the biggest reasons these rips are around is because the owners think they can create an amazing Naruto game out of another source code because their programming skills are not all that great and they are too lazy to learn. So if you do this, they will want to play your game. | |

Maybe once everyone and his brother gets ahold of the N:botls source, they'll look through it and either decide that it sucks after all, or (like people expect) that it'll explode into a billion rips.
But seriously, how much harmul can it be? What about the zeta rips? It doesn't look like they've completely destroyed Byond to me, so I don't see why N:Botls will do it. If anything, it'll cheapen the entire game. People will flock to their rip of choice, move their vote there, and the grip that N:Botls has on the rankings might break apart. Personally I think this will be an awesome bit of drama to watch as it comes out. :D | |
while i do agree it is completely and totally stupid (and in some ways grossly irresponsible) for BigBioD, Artemio, Worldweaver, and Squeegy, and whoever else, to make this stuff available to the general public - the fact is that they have, and the staff will deal with it as best as possible.
thanks to these dingbats, the support form has been filling up with all sorts of (likely stupid) requests that need to be dealt with - instead of the staff moving on to more important things like working on the BYOND website and BYOND itself. people should be spending more time either playing games, or forcusing on developing their own game, instead of posting 'the sky is falling!'-type crap - as seen here. if you don't like it - make your own game so good that it will make such rips easy to forget. posting hysterica/fanatical whining about it will help no-one. thread closed to prevent spam. | |
