I hate BYOND Arcade's CSS.

People should know that black layouts are unprofessional (any professional website is going to have a lighter layout). Especially one that isn't designed very well. <.<

BYOND Arcade is Airjoe's personal guild, and the staff can't make him change his CSS (Well, they could, but there's no reason to.)

But I thought they just recently made it official, did they not?

The "lighter website" thing is part of the whole Web 2.Schmoe mentality. Lighter websites are more professional only because that's what's trendy with professionals at the moment.

As long as a website is easy to read (and light text on dark background isn't hard to read... the only reason we're accustomed to dark text on light background is because that's been easier to produce for centuries), I'd call it professional, in the sense of being well-done.

It has been observed that looking at a white-or-other-light-colored background is kind of like staring into a light bulb. If I were going to spend a lot of time on a site, I'd much rather that the background generate as little light as possible.

Well, it's okay I guess if the CSS was dark, but only if it's made well. =D

Your lucky, your games have been listed. : /

And you know what, I didn't even have to submit it. It's called patience. If everyone would be PATIENT, then their games will be submitted. Everyone is jumping to the conclusion "WHAAAAAAT WHAAAAAAAT MY GAME IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY IN A GUILD SO IT NEVER WILL BE." Just be PATIENT with it. Eventually, after all the other games have been sorted, if yours hasn't, THEN you can ask about it in the forums. Everyone needs to SHUT UP complaining about something that is so new.

I hope thats not aimed at me, I don't even have a game, I meant my old favorites : /

Nah, I was talking to the people that it applies to.
In response to Koil
They did, but then they decided to merge it back into Byond:Casual. Airjoe decided to restart the Arcade guild on his own.

There's now an "Unpublished" link in the games site sidebar. As you can see, there aren't currently a lot of live games that aren't in the official guilds.

With the exception of bloated BYOND Anime, there aren't that many games being hosted anyway. The count I just took makes an average of 14 hosted games per guild, including unpublished.

That's not going through and seeing how many games actually have people playing them! So, I go through and count games that have more than one player (because you can call that multi-player) and the average number of games per guild is halved! I like the new system, but don't make the unpublished area seem insignificant.

Who says black can't be professional?

As Hedgemistress said, light backgrounds are like staring into a lightbuilb. I even have my default DS background color to a middle gray because it actually hurts when I leave it white. If I'm writing a long paper in MS Word, I set an option to make the background blue and the font white. Much easier on the eyes.

That said, BYOND Arcade's CSS represents Pacman in all his glory! If you have a better CSS scheme, please submit it, because I'm really not great with the stuff and that was the best I could do.

I believe Koil might think it's official because Tom recently gave me access to the actual BYONDArcade key again. However, as you can see, it's not in the Featured Gaming Communities box on the main games page, and is therefore not official. The most official thing about the guild is the fact that the key has "BYOND" in it. :]

Oh, oh wait, I know! How about, you can make games with BYOND, but if you even want your game listed on the HUB you have to pay for that?

Heck, I'd say you're lucky they don't do that. If I was Tom, I would've charged for hub listings years ago. Not only would it solve some of their money problems, but 90% of the rips would be gone instantly.

I suppose they don't do this because the hub is one of the central pieces that keeps the community together, and though it's nice to have little subcommunities (guilds), I don't think anyone's looking for all of BYOND to split apart.

I'll just continue to complain, thanks.

Rabble Rabble.

You might want to note that it is not official in the sub-header. Just to make sure that everyone knows.

I never said it was perfect Crispy, as a matter of fact, I don't see the word "perfect" anywhere in that post.

It's called satire. =)

My point is that you're allergic to change. You've shown this by point-blank refusing to admit that it is at all possible for the new system, once heavily improved (as it will be) to ever surpass the Supreme Glory Of The Old Way, Amen.

I'll just continue to complain, thanks.
Rabble Rabble.

That explains a lot.

You know this would have simply worked out better if you had tested it with select people and worked on it to deliver a polished version instead of just throwing the community into a early beta.

The BYOND staff find that they make better progress when they release stuff incrementally. Trying to hold it all back and then unleash it all at once just causes the kind of situation that we had a while ago, where channels weren't accepting games (in preparation for being phased out), but the new system wasn't done yet.

The other advantage of working this way is that the design can be refined directly from user feedback, instead of guessing what people want and then unleashing it all at once (and potentially being wrong and thus wasting 6+ months of development time).
