I'm actually with Kinggoken on this one. I have never seen a general rule page on BYOND, but I believe threats like that are actually (key) ban-able. Or should be. Whatever fits.

Typically such threats aren't anything actionable because they're completely hollow. If I had a buck for every stupid "I'm gonna hack you" threat made in a community composed largely of 13- to 15-year-olds, I'd be on track for early retirement.

Meh. Why did I say that? I made one almost exactly like that somewhere else when I was 9. I got banned for it. Unless the admin there was just a plain retard, shouldn't it be the case here?

If BYOND staff banned everyone who threatened to hack someone, we'd have almost no one left. :P

I didn't know MLAAS was THAT popular back in the day.

So there really is no way to take back those ungrateful little kids memberships..

No offense, but umm... Serves your right. I guess?

Why does it serve him right? He gave a gift to some people who turned out later to be little trolls. That's no fault of his. I think you're confused.

No, because your simple demands for wanting to take their memberships back causes you to lower yourself to their standards.

Just live with it -- they're not a big deal.

It is his fault. If he's silly enough to trust a complete strangers over the internet. Then of course he's heading for disappointment.

The world's a cruel place and if your going to trust and be generous to complete strangers then one of these days someone is going to get hurt.. meaning you King.

So next time you're going to buy someone something make sure you know them a little better so at least then you can rest easy knowing that some 9 year-old on the other side of the world isn't going to threaten you with an attempted hack on your PC.

Hey, that was 5 years ago. I had proper special needs until I was 12, with the whole school and my parents looking out for me. Now I just get a helper. <_<

Being generous has nothing to do with trusting someone. I believe King just whines on about how he got screwed over, but BYOND Staff isn't providing him with a way to screw them back.

You know what King. You know what would make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

You could always buy little old me a BYOND membership because my Birthday is coming up soon(November 5th) I'm going to be 16! Yay!

I know what they did was wrong and I would personally kill them all for you if I could, but I can't =[
But it's the thought that counts right?

So if you're still feel generous then please make my day/week/month/year and buy me a BYOND membership. Because... I love you =]

Nice job. Really nice job.

Like I said before, Byond can keep the money. I just want those little kids byond membership status to be stripped from them.

1) You're lowering yourself to their standards. They tried (and succeeded) in getting you banned from a game. Now you're trying (albeit not as successful) to take away their memberships.

2) This isn't about refunds or anything. You simply can't go around trying to remove other people's memberships because you don't like them. You gave them a gift membership, and it's in their hands now; you are not some kind of godfather over them.

So the moral of the story is to never help anyone, because they might hurt you? That's just ignorant. I find it ironic, then, that you're begging him for a membership. You go on telling him that it's his fault for being generous, yet here you are begging his generosity. I guess your moral only applies to other people, huh?

Umm are you stupid?

I said make sure you trust them a bit first or if you're really set on helping them then be prepared to pay the price. Being generous is a gamble. Some people are nice to you in return, but then there are some people who just use you and take what they can from you. So if you're going to be generous, like I said be prepared because in the end if they are the latter type of person and they do take from you what they can and use you, then after all that they threaten to hack you :S then it's your fault because you were willing to take the gamble and be generous and you lost. Sure it's nice being generous and there's nothing wrong with it, but don't you go complaining because you've been generous and some other person on the other-side of the world hasn't been nice in return because in the end it's your fault. Sure he's the one that began this transaction by asking for the membership, but your the one who sealed the deal by giving it to him. At least next time now you'll think before you give stuff away to strangers.

The whole I want membership thing is a joke. Calm down. As much as I want membership I know King wouldn't buy it for me seeing as I'm arguing with him, but it was worth a try =P

You do not want to start a name-calling war with me.

Everything is a gamble. Does that make everything your fault? By your logic it does.

Sure it's nice being generous and there's nothing wrong with it, but don't you go complaining because you've been generous and some other person on the other-side of the world hasn't been nice in return because in the end it's your fault.

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. Blame the nice guy, not the jerk. It's not the jerk who got King banned, it was King. King threatened to hack himself too, huh? That'll teach him not to try and help someone.

Blaming the victim is an old con, and I for one don't appreciate it when people bash humanity's better qualities just becuase there was an unfortunate outcome. It's about the means, not the end.

The whole I want membership thing is a joke. Calm down. As much as I want membership I know King wouldn't buy it for me seeing as I'm arguing with him, but it was worth a try =P

A poor joke, if that.

It's easy to sit back and go on about thinking before giving stuff away, but Kinggoken didn't go into any detail about what happened. Maybe he already felt he knew them well enough to do a nice favor for them. Friendships form and dissolve all of the time, for any reason under the sun. To say that "now he'll think before being charitable" seems rather cold, doesn't it? Kinggoken may not have the right to revoke their memberships, but he does have the right to feel sour that he wanted to do something nice for someone and have it blow up in his face.

Them threatening to hack Kinggoken is his fault because he donated a membership? Good grief.
