I think that all topics about rips should be closed like you can't talk about religion, sex, and politics you should not talk about rips it has gotten so annoying and out of hand please ban rip topics so people would realise its "Build Your Own Net Dream" and if the ripper's net dream is a rip then we are not here to judge. I used to support such talk but now I know that its way too much please do something about it.

Just ignore the threads about them.

Yea what Calus said. They aren't coming to get you if you're worried about that. The forums wouldn't be as interesting without them topics.

I agree with the TC. It could be a good step in the direction of cleansing the dark side of BYOND.

Yes, we pretty much close or delete all of those. Mostly delete.

byond needs to hire a staffor or 2 to go delete all the current rips, and delete any new ones as soon as theyre added
and y dont u just add some sort of system like youtube
where the games have to be reviewed before they can actualy be displayed on the hub?

Too much hassle, the staff members have other important things to deal with like improving 4.0 to a stage where it is no longer in beta.

Imagine if YOU had to verify each and every hub, most which probably has no games, log in and see if it's a rip or not (which is very hard to determine unless you know what you are looking for)... not to mention they can just make a ripped game after the hub has been verified and set the hub to it.

The best way to stop rips is to TOTALLY IGNORE THEM. Eventually they'll die from lack of interest... and if you don't want rips to occur from your game, well... take better care of how you handle the source.

(Reason why I mentioned hub is because staff has no way to delete the source from the said people)

It's like preaching to wall. I'm on your side by the way GhostAnime. I've tried in many... well one topic to get people to understand that there are more important things to do and how it's the teams fault and how we should all just ignore them. I also think rips aren't that bad as I've pointed out many times along my posts here on BYOND. As far as I can see they bring a decent player base to BYOND. Sure I most probably would be playing a Rip right now if I joined BYOND in the last few months. So there is really no immediate threat from the the mighty rippers ... So just leave them alone. They aren't gaining anything from ripping and we aren't losing anything from letting them rip and BYOND is gaining more players which could mean more possible memberships, more funding for BYOND then an improved BYOND. Which is all good.

thats y i said HIRE a couple new staffors, id go around banishing all the rips for free if i had the power to do so =P

and as to modulus claim that rips bring new players to byond, thats just completely retarded, you think if square enix released 100 different copies of a ff game with nothing changed except a few things that the npcs said and maybe a couple new skills or other lame minor differences they have hundreds more people playing?
no, its still the same exact game, itd be idiotic to assume that having several copies of the same thing would bring more people
In response to Falacy
though, then again, most byond games are exacltly the same, *click the attack verb 1000 times even though nothing happens unless theres an enemy directly in front of you, and then it just outputs damage to the chat box,
have you ever played a real game that worked like that?
seriously lame <.<
This topic has already been beaten into the ground. Most posts complaining about rips get deleted or closed, like this one!
