Lately I've been having some really annoying trouble with my internet going out. It seems like for long periods of time everything will work normally, but eventually, seemingly randomly, my connection will go out.

Checking my network connection shows that I seem to be sending a large amount of packets, like 115,000 compared to the normal 4000, and the received is about 14,000 compared to the normal 5000.

Now, the weird part to me is that if I restart my computer, it starts working again. The downside is that every time I do this the connection lasts less time than it did before, until each reboot makes the connection last for maybe a minute. Usually if it gets to that point I just wait 'til the next day and the cycle begins anew.

I've tried a different router, and modem(although it was the same model as my other one, it was the only one the store had), but neither seem to have helped. In case it might matter, my ISP is Comcast.

If anyone has any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it, I would be very grateful.
Virus sending out packets?

Do a few scans virus spyware etc.

I already tried Spybot before I posted.
I'll try Ad-aware now.

Do you know of any other good programs to use? Thanks for the advice.

Also: The problem seems pretty erratic as it went out a few times today and I rebooted and it has been working perfectly since the last reboot(which was like 3 hours ago, which is quite a bit longer than it usually lasts).

Let me just tell you that Ad-aware is actually useless. The only thing it will ever, ever find is tracking cookies. Even a common virus scan will pick up adware better than Ad-aware EVER could. Even then, Ad-aware is not designed to find viruses so a virus scan > ad-aware scan.

Ad-aware finds spyware not viruses ... and it does find more than cookies if you actually have a spyware program or registry value on your pc i would know since i have had alot of spyware..

If you don't have anything relevant to say then don't even post at all your post has wasted bandwidth , time , money and space.

Spybot and Adaware are useless. They miss hundreds of thousands of things. If you want something that gets everything, try Superantispyware. If you want to pay instead, you can buy Webroot Spy Sweeper or the Pro version of Superantispyware. Those are the best two programs to get.

The best program I have used is NOD32. Protects really well.

What, Spybot is quite possibly the best anti-spyware/adware program on the market. It's not exactly designed for the beginner, but not only does it catch 90+% of all spyware I've put it against(and I have a business cleaning computers of viruses and spyware), it also has tools to kill the other 10% so that other anti-spyware just have to clean up the files. And imagine this, it is gave away FOR FREE. No, not some crippled version. No, not a lite version that pesters you to buy the full version. A completely free full version with everything the program has to offer, and not even a pestering for donations. That man should be given a metal.

Anyways, these are all spyware/adware removers. Try AVG for free anti-virus. Nod32 comes highly recommended, and doesn't cost a ton, if you are willing to pay.
