I suppose, but why not have it a more simpler way? Why did they have to remove the visible rankings on the hubs?

I am guessing its because of all the complaints they received about the ranking system. Although, most of the grievances were addressed when ranking became guild based.
I personally would like them to have a rating system like the one on most online stores. One in which people can leave short reviews and give it a rating out 5 stars or something similar. | |

The old system was alright because you couldn't hurt a game unless you helped it (I.E: Putting the game 2nd on your favourites down to 7th) But a rating system like you suggested allows people to hurt games with no reason at all (or a stupid one, like rating a 4 star game 1 because it isn't your thing) so it'll be another battle... BYOND Anime vs. the world. But the forums won't be the battlefield. | |
That is why you have the reviews. If you see that someone with no idea how to form a sentence, rated it low you can ignore his rating. In addition, like on Amazon.com you could check off if the review was helpful or not. If the ratio were high enough against the review, it would not be included in determining the rating.

The point I'm trying to make is everyone's game will be 1 or 2 stars and no newbie would want to play them unless we are lucky to get smart ones. | |

But chances are the Anime community will never leave their anime games. So any rating war they have wont affect anything else.

I think its best the way it is to be honest people were going out of there way to whore out there games for rank like we will give you admin or a boost in game if you rank us in your top three. Then people with money could just pay for like 50 or so accounts an just rank the game they want to go up high on the list reguardless of the fact that its junk or even a rip.
I mean lets just say you spend 10,000 bucks on byond in accounts alone. You make a game that you login to an have a map about 10x10x1 an nothing but a say verb yet this games number one in rank on the hub because the owner is rich an spent a retarded amount to get his game there. Now sure no one is clearly crazy enough to buy that many byond accounts but anyone with some money could do it an not only does it take away the rank from games that are really worth playing or have earned there own ranks but it also opens the system up to abuse for anyone with money. An you cant say that people dont have money on byond. I know people that have paid for up words of 25 accounts. An thats enough to turn the favor for that person if they own the accounts. Sure 15 bucks seems like a lot of money unless your rich or you have a full time job an get a paycheck like any normal person but live with ur mom so you dont pay rent meaning you have right around 800 bucks or so every two weeks atleast to blow on byond accounts. Thats just giving out some numbers doesnt mean everyone earns that much or that little... Hell some people could work as a rn an roll in 2000 bucks a pay check how the hell would anyone be able to fight someone with that kind of money if they could just blow all that money on accounts. An like I said most people arent crazy enough to do something like that but people arent above cheating the system anyway they can when they can. Back in the day when the ranking system was like that I remember the game I normal host was in an all out ranking war with some other game that whored himself out an had friends but 20+ accounts an rank the game. We had to go as far as giving out membership as event prizes just to catch up to the bloody game thats what made it so bloody annoying because we worked for our rank an we had been around for more then a year an here comes this rip that was returfed givin a new name an slapped up on a hub an in less then a week it beat us out well over 20+ ranks yet the game was worse then ours! So yah I doubt that systems ever going to be put back into play unless someone comes up with some great way to avoid people abusing. | |
