Now where do i start off? Oh I know I have been on Chat By Evi and most people didn't say anything about it except for jtjibston(sorry if i spelled you name wrong) and GoodDoggyTreat. So I've decide to post it here (I am posting here due to the fact I felt it best related to post it on this forum since other title do not match anything.)I've been around byond for 2-3 years now and yes I've made friends and rivals *cough* Hikato and others. It comes upon me i have 56.01 in my paypal account. So to bring me back to about opions I would like to get around 20 opion's about if byond membership is worth $18.00. I would greatly appreciate it if you express you opion if it worth buying it or not.
(I know i got money in my paypal but feel free to buy me a mebership if you want :p) J/P

Kinda depends what you want to do with it, doesn't it? If you're not going to take advantage of any of the memberships features such as having your own webspace to host your blog/guild/files, and you don't have anywhere to benefit in-game from a membership, then all you're really getting out of it is a little picture next to your name on the forums.

I say you should buy it if you want to support byond. That is the reason I am getting one in the near future.

I found the BYOND Membership to be a very good source for hosting files online, not just BYOND stuff. The hosting alone is worth it.

I'd do it just to support BYOND. Have you had fun in your years here? It's also tough to pass up on the forum if your have a need for one. I really don't like phpBB forums, too much going on. As someone else mentioned, the hosting is a nice plus too. =)

I am sorry, but I wouldn't do it "just to support BYOND". BYOND has had it's share of problems for a long time now and they haven't really gotten any better. Yes, BYOND the software has gotten better, but the community, games and people herein, have continued to go down hill at a very slow rate.

If the staff who run BYOND have seriously ever wanted to make a living off of BYOND, I think they should have started a while ago.
They should have had the AD support a long time ago and they should have started a member's payment thing a long time ago too. As a matter of fact, when someone was telling me they were considering making BYOND a mostly paid member website (forums, blog or even making a HUB) I thought that was a great idea. It would cut out a lot of the garbage. I have no problems with the ADs on BYOND, and I wouldn't have a problem with a small AD window on the BYOND clients. Even having to pay a monthly fee for BYOND membership with added support is something I am willing to do. | |

I wouldn't right now because I feel it really isn't going to make that big of a differance. If they are SERIOUS about supporting BYOND, then I am all for it. But $18 a year? Even with the user base they have, that isn't much money.

I'll renew my membership when the time comes. I don't play games and I don't use my filespace or blog. But it makes using the forums easier and supports something that has entertained me for many years.
