This probably cant be done by in a later update yall could a in built in var that would alow reading of the host pcs upload and download speed, and ya could also add this to the hub. This could be used for many things, but for my uses it would do a check as soon as the persons downloads it from the hub(once made downloadable) then if their speed meets your require meants such a 11MBdownlaod/1MBupload after the check it would alow that host to keep download and host, this is just so that unwanted people can host.
didnt ask you

You didn't ask anyone anything, I don't see a single question mark.

Regardless, Inu's right, that's a pretty pointless feature. If people join someones server, and the server is slow/laggy, they can either cope or leave. It's kinda' lame to discriminate against those people who have dial-up/slow connections, and still want to host games and play with their friends.

ill say it again i didnt ask you, i figure if its in byond features the BYOND STAFF would look i could care less if yall look

I have three replies I could make regarding this:
1) If you didn't ask him, then whom did you ask? Why couldn't you just send a message to that person directly?

2) Your main post never included a question mark, so technically you never asked anybody anything. In that case, what does this reply mean? Why did you post this?

3) Nobody cares whom you asked the question. This is a public forum -- anyone may reply, anyone may answer the question.

I'm going to go with #3 on this one.

As for your suggestion, I don't think this is possible to do, and even if it is, I don't think it's feasible to do since people will be complaining about how their privacy is abused by BYOND Staff, or simply complaining about that they can't host certain games just because the game owners don't consider their computer to be good enough for it.

You know, Vista requires you to have 512MB RAM. I think that drives people mad, and will cause streaming complaints about why BYOND shouldn't allow developers to force you to "get a better ISP".

that last part you said is a good idea so if you want people with high connections to only be able to play, but that isnt what i said what i said what you add var inside your code that will check one the game is downloaded from the hub that if the person that download has the required connection they can host, i said nothing about you had to have a high connection to play the game just host.

and your right this is a public forum so i can say w/e i want right

No, I got your idea through my head: you want to force hosts to have a connection you deem worthy to host your oh-so-special Naruto rip.

What I'm saying is that if people complain because Windows Vista forces you to have at least 512MB RAM, people are definately going to complain if BYOND Staff decides to include a feature like this if it's only going to be used for the purpose you described.

Not to mention the whole idea wouldn't work anyway. Connection speed is dependant on your country and the kind of connection you have, and in some cases too the ISP you have. It would also require BYOND Staff to setup their own servers to do this speed-test with every single computer hosting a game (regardless if somebody actually uses the variable or not!) causing them to pay even more for their servers.

And even if, even if they'd be able to pull it off in a way that doesn't drain their servers dry of bandwidth, the only thing it'd be used for would be to discriminate people.

and your right this is a public forum so i can say w/e i want right

No. What I said was that if you have a question you want to ask to somebody, you ask them directly instead of using these forums.

You do have to follow rules on these forums, you can't just say anything you want without having to worry about concequences, unless you're pretty sure nobody will mind that a certain person gives another person a few facts to help them out.

Not at all. Having a smart-ass attitude towards people who reply to your post with an opinion would probably get you a forum warning. That attitude is the same Superbike had when he refused to listen to what everyone was saying, he was given a weeks break from the forum. The fact is, it's a public forum and if you make a suggestion, people are allowed to give their two cents on the matter.

As for the idea itself, it has no real use. I don't see a reason for adding in something which will force the server to contact the hub to get a download speed, then export it to the hub page itself.

I just don't see the need for this feature.
Considering the fact you don't type correctly and and need a translator(Its very hard to read moronese) and that this idea has been dissmissed as useless by most people who have posted(I'm about to too) the staff are most definatly(sp?) not going to add this. There is also the fact that what Android Data said is true that if they did add this they would have to set up servers draining their bandwith and making them pay a lot of money and also for your most likely ripped game any host should do rips only get like twenty players.

Summing this up: His idea= Bad.
In response to Tiberath
like i keep saying to everyone i could care less what you think sooner the ADMISN say it not good then you can post w/e you want and i wont care, and you just said it is public and if people reply i can reply right back at what they say
In response to Dark-Millenia
ya w/e
Really why don't you just look for your host and decide if they are good enough to host your game. Why is it such a big deal that BYOND do that for you?
In response to Tcoo
Then at least reply with something constructive, not "Yeah k w/e...yoo suck!...lalala not listening". You have been completely writing off the comments of a few of the most renown people on Byond. Their input can be just as valuable as that of any admin.

The byond staff/volunteers will say the exact same thing as everyone else on the matter. It is blatently not a good idea, get over it.
In response to Tcoo
If you want this so badly, then set it up yourself. Set up downloading your game on your own server, and set up a speed-test before you generate a unique download link for that person.

no not really

Heck, my first (and only) warning was at least a months ban, lol. Can't remember how long exactly I was away from the forums xD

Public forum? Yes. That means anybody can reply and say their opinion. But there is also a limit on freedom of speech :P lol.
In response to Tcoo
No, you cannot have their emails. When it comes to feature requests, you ask the community. Then if agreement is reached by the community will the staff add it in, assuming it is actually feasible/possible to do so.
Your request fails. The community doesn't want it, it's not feasible, and it is in general pointless.
