I'm running on Windows XP Home Editing, I can't seem to port forward no more.
I use a modem and I can't use two computers in my house unless I hook my router to my modem but I can't port forward no more.
It won't let me.
Someone please help me.

ok, so your modem has a nat and firewall built in. You have two options. I suggest you just port forward from your modem to your router. Then port forward on your router to your pc.
Your alternative is to disable NAT and your firewall. check out the following guides: http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/modems/m1000/ index.html?option=advanced |

Yes, it's under "Configure Port Forwarding* (PDF)" under the link I gave you.:P
The idea is, from your modem, you port forward to your router. You do this by getting your router's IP address. This is the IP that your modem gives it. You can look it up seeing what address your pc connects to. You can use ipconfig to do this. 1. From your modem, forward port xxxx to your router's address. From your router, you forward to your pc. You can find your pc's ip address with ipconfig as well. (Google ipconfig for help). 2. On your router, forward port xxxx to your pc's address. You may need to reboot both the router and modem. Then, done! |
Well, I did everything you said and nothing happened my IP changed but yeah it still says Connection Failed when people try to connect.

If your modem has a firewall built in, it acts as a router. Turn off your modem firewall and turn off it's router capability. It'll be helpful if you give us your modem and router model numbers.
It'll connect straight to the router then. Then, on your router, you can port forward as usual.
