Is there anyway to change my BYOND key? I'd like to change my BYOND keyname and i have a membership on my current key.
Is it possible to transfer this membership to another key? Or get my current key changed?
Thanks

The former has been done occasionally, but very, very, very sparingly. The latter is not allowed.

Probably no one, as it has been a very long time since anyone was allowed to do this. It may very well be no longer allowed.

After the very first time a membership was transferred to another key, we quickly realized that we had to stop doing that right away or we would be inundated with requests (and fraud attempts). It is now policy not to do membership transfers except in very rare situations. Almost needless to say, wanting to use a new name does not qualify. Lummox JR |

Community -> Terms of Service
I miss a private policy with BYOND though, even more in regards to handling sensitive information when subscribing to a game or buying a BYOND membership. |
Yeah, I have recently taken this up with Tom, he said it is on the todo list. When we had the site change a year or so ago, many documents went into the ether, never to be seen again. For as much as I hate long winded, basically generic Terms of Service, and Privacy Policies, they are a necessary evil for both parties. For the site/software maintainer, it protects them from damages, and gives them a "Hey! You agreed, not stop complaining!", and for the user it gives them a "Hey! You said that..."
Of course, most of us here trust Tom to be a good guy, but we can't expect a new person, or even a person who doesn't frequent these forums to have the same trust. |
The BYOND privacy policy is here; it's meant to pop up from another page, but I can see what I can do about making it more prominent.

Yes, I was aware of that page. Problem: it is not quite the site ToS, but rather specifically the BYOND Membership's. As suggested by Danial.Beta, we had a broader site ToS, however in a major site update it vanished, along with some other pages.

And the point of reposting the URL is? Anyway, that link is accessible through Community -> ToS, so you'd expect it to be the community/site ToS and not the BYOND Membership's, which not everybody even has.

Like most terms of service documents, these terms pertain to personal conduct and to BYOND's service, so for the most part they apply to all BYOND users, not just BYOND Members." I'd guess there was some time/space saved by including the standard TOS in the BYOND member TOS. |
