How do I run the dream maker?
what you actually mean by running the Dream Maker(DM for short)?.

first open the DM icon > file > new enviroment > choose where to create your game source.

to program on DM:

file > new > create a .dm file.

to do pixel art on DM:

file > new > create a .dmi file.

NOTE: i recommend you using MS Paint.

to map on DM:

file > new > create a .dmm file. (3.5 BYOND v. uses .dmp)

I don't mean to split hairs on your otherwise perfectly good post, but DM isn't short for Dream Maker the program, as I understand. I believe it's supposed to be what the programming language is called. Just to avoid any confusion in future.

Otherwise, a good quick review of getting started, with some helpful further links.

Actually, a lot of people use DM as an abbreviation for Dream Maker, it usually doesn't get confusing.

Following the whole disagreement a bunch of people had over terminology on our now-defunct Wikipedia article on this topic, I'd say it has led to a bit of confusion and was worth at least pointing out. All the same, I'm sure people will call things whatever they want to, ultimately.

I understand the same. Or it's at least better that way, anyway, to differentiate.
