I personally find the website to be completely annoying. I mean being creative is cool, but I just wanna find some screenshots and how much it cost. When I first went to the site I thought they sold the domain to some corporate business.

Jokes are one thing, but I don't think I'm alone in wanting to know what the frell something is before registering, ya know?
"Q: What is a "GWABS"? I would pass. The marketing would have completely backfired. |
Yeah, I'm really turned off. I'm not going to "show my hacker cred" by finding out how to get on the invite list -- if GWABS doesn't want me, I don't give a care.

An in-depth explanation about the in-game content doesn't have to be in a FAQ. They could simply not include those instead. Surely you can't expect to know about everything in the game before you register.
Also, aren't they just beginning? They may have actual documentation/support/instructions later on, once they're polished or whatever. |
To be clear, I like most of the site and got a chuckle out of it. I just think there should be a section behind the curtain with a note on what the frell GWABS actually is. They expect you to give out your information first. That's not something I would do and I don't think I'm alone.

I agree; I imagine it will be rather hard to attract uninformed users to GWABS unless the users themselves know it's a harmless game beforehand. Maybe they're going for viral here rather than traditional advertising methods...

Yeah it's obviously viral, and they are pretty good at viral marketing. It's actually a pretty cool idea, and I'll be interested in seeing how that turns out.
