Could be biweekly, I don't think enough stuff happens for there to be a podcast every week.

You could have a section covering ACWraith's Along the Tech Tree, one for the new Weekly Digest, talk about what's on the wall for BYOND development, talk about new projects such as Nadrew's Ncom. You could go so far as to take on guest hosts from the BYOND community, interview BYOND developers, review BYOND games.

There's really a lot you could do with a BYONDcast.

i know as much as i hate to say it (mostly because i'm not a member) they should only allow member's for byond to nominate games theirfore reducing the ammount of people spamming the crap out of alt accounts.

This would be a fairly clean fix to the problem of alternate account spam.

I mean, what's it going to hurt BYOND any if people buy members accounts to vote?

i only stated that because i was thinking who would spend $18 on a year membership only to vote their game to be in a category.

Or you could do it like Hollywood. They elect an unbiased board of memebers who then bring 4 or 5 nominations to be voted apon. Nominating would be a simple click on the hub? And having an option for what category your voting on would be a nice idea. Not to mention the categories could be say: Best Action game, Best graphics action game, best graphics fan game etc...

ok i get what your saying but do you mean like for example the low budget comedies such Meet The Spartians putting them into a game type they would be the byond game rips because the movies were only made to make a quick laugh and catch the eyes of 12 year old boys?
but becides that i like what your thinking the idea of " Best Byond Graphics Game" I never even though about the graphics of the games.

I'd like to hear a podcast consisting of BYOND Staff. It would be nice to put some faces (well, voices) behind the screen names. Talk about what goes on behind the scenes and make things a little more transparent.

Well people get critisized for the littlest of things that probablly why they haven't done anything like that yet, either that or they dont want people knowing who they really are.

I don't see why BYOND wouldn't just only allow a few nominees from each guild, instead of people just voting for whatever all whilly nilly.

Thats why i stated that byond members would only be alloud to vote because it would take the majority of spam nominated games.

Yikes! A quad post!

BYONDcast sounds like a great idea, but I think the weekly digest covers this aspect.

Blog/podcast seems like a better idea,
A good example of a blog/podcast would be another game site called instant action, which displays some podcasts on its blog, as an extra thing.
I can think of one example where the blog is more personal, and that would be a blog for an web instant messenger called meebo.com (they display the current blog post as a extra window when signed in, it can be closed out, but its sort of a news type thing, but more personal to the company, since anyone who reads it seriously can tell they say a lot about themselves, as well as updates and stuff)

Here is what I think
We add an extra point for originality on anime games
This can be perceived as a original spin/lesser to none use of modified code type class.
Also I'd like to add if you start removing nominees so that only subscribers and stuff can vote, or request a game to be nominated you are going to loose a huge chunk of BYOND, I won't buy a membership, because I feel BYOND is stuck in a suspended state right now and I don't feel the money would be spent worth wildly anyways.

Do you really think that people would leave BYOND only because they can not nominate a game for an àward that has no whatsoever influence (other than honour maybe), when they do not obtain a BYOND membership?
Sounds a bit drastic in my eyes.

If BYOND is stuck in a "suspended state" (which I can not claim to agree with, considering the 4.30 update and the weekly news digest), wouldn't it even more require the monetary resources to improve and expand?

I'm not completely sure what you think the money is being spent on, but I doubt that Tom is driving a Ferrari.
I think that keeping the servers humming and paying employees is rather tricky/expansive, when only few people are willing to invest that little money for a membership.

But that is leading off the topic, so I won't debate further on it and excuse for the little slip.

no i dont think that people would leave byond for not having the ability to vote because what else would they do ... play runescape xD thats just a downgrade from byond. Me if i was able to pay to get a membership i would but i'm too young to get a paypal account ...by one year so i decided that when i can get one i will buy a byond membership because i do think that tom deserves the money i mean look how hard him and the others worked to make byond what it is today, it truely is amazing.

No, but what I am saying is, people would be upset. Also expanding upon BYOND being in a suspended state, I don't actually mean the software. BYOND has been through quite a few changes in itself, website and software. I just feel the community as a whole hasn't really made any progress. And while the software itself has made some changes, I don't see any real huge changes in the games on BYOND itself. To be honest, I don't even see BYOND being around 5 years from now at it's current pace. And I could be wrong, I know that. But it is a personal opinion.

Remember BYOND has been around for long, long before you or even I joined. And it's only advancing all the time.

That would be simple enough to change.
Sit down and create a marvellous game.
I'm sure that the community would be as happy as the BYOND staff.

*smiles*
People said that about 10 years ago.
People said that about 5 years ago.
And I think people are going to say that in another 5 years still.

but when do you think it will not be around anymore? everything ends, everything

To be honest i dont see byond in the next five years because something could happen, somebody could die, tom or dan could just lose intrest in this whole thing and just say screw it, but i try to think on the good side of things and i hope byond is around for a long time to come.

Eh, now there are some drastically pessimistic thoughts! Everything is possible, but I don't see them as very likely to occur.
