Yes I tried. My icons look somewhat fine if I use some other icons, and form/morph new one, or edit old one into new. But they still don't look good to me. When I need to do something from scratch is looks total noobwork

"Or better yet, just download a DBZ/Naruto source, rename it, make yourself GM and watch all the other human players grind while you sit on your throne and mock them for being weaklings."
lol. I suppose I could make myself a really large throne and then call it an original. ts |

Use 1x2 throne which is included in almost every DBZ game, then use paint to make it like 3 times bigger and your god 1 hitting everyone without doing a step (death verb)

That's what warp verbs and infinite forests and dungeons and things like that are for. If you make them feel like they have a way out when they really don't, its much more entertaining. Oh, and send the indestructible un-dense slow-moving but incessant (and z-level shifting) monster after them to stock them continually. |

If it been Naruto game you could make monster with Kyuubi and Sand Demon within him, possessing "Multi Camouflage Henge Exploding Wind Rasengan Shuriken" jutsu. Makes every piece of turf into exploding wind bomb >.> With Chain reaction

Now that I am older and have been handling the material for so long I just did what I do with drawing. When you want to know how to draw a certain way you look at a drawing and then draw on your own sheet, and it usually works. Same principle with pixels, look at how those fancy RPG characters are made, it is just like pencil shading but with pixels. Take that aspect of it and go with it and never think you can whip something good up in 15 minutes. It takes a few days of concentration and a goal, not just messing around. After I made my real first original base that I liked (for my upcoming game) it was easily "morphed" as you say into the other characters and npcs. Its all about improvement, you are never really "finished" when it comes to game design/programming.
I have also gotten a lot better at reading DM, or byond has become easier. One of the two, but I still cannot really create features on my own because all I can do is copy and paste/edit so truly I still can not program but I can edit it and understand it - To a limit and enough to improve. (Though I do have to thank sally d as she has helped me open my creativity that was lost for so long). |
The way I look at popularity in RPGs, it's a factor of two things:
1. Getting people to take the time to try your game out of the thousands of other games they could be playing. 2. The game providing enough of a hook for the people who try the game to stick around and recommend it to their friends. Of course, with online games, there's a third little hook - that of the friends who play the game who you want to hang around - but dragging burnt out people into the game just to hang around with their friends is not likely to attract admiration so much as it is animosity. Yes, in many ways what I'm saying here is suggesting RPGs are no different than any other game... and this is true. Online RPGs are no longer so very novel that they can skirt the prerequsite appeal of all other kinds of games anymore. Besides, popularity smopularity - I'm here just to make games I could enjoy, I'm not going to break my back trying to please everybody. It seems being popular has a lot more to do with establishing a shallow tangent than a deep one. |
