Just something that makes the spaced indentations become tabs when I paste stuff in dream maker. Or the other way around for people that are used to spacing it out.

In that case I would just build a program to do it but what I'm aiming for is convenience. Not to mention the number of spaces can vary threw-out the code. Your method could destroy strings as well. If it was my code I was worrying about I would have no reason to reformat it as all of my code is tabbed. It's reformatting every piece of code posted elsewhere that I would like to play with that bugs me.

The only way this becomes an issue is when you're copy-pasting code bits from around the forums. Personally, I believe the "extra work" of converting the spaces to tabs should remain as to deter people from doing it so much in the future (and perhaps deter those spouting complete solutions to "code problems" that are incomprehensible to the receiver). In addition, though rare, some prefer the spaces to use of tabs in their code, and I can already foresee a "allow conversion both ways" follow-up. |
To have a built-in feature would be a bit pointless, but eh. You shouldn't have a problem with my method unless you use single-space tabs, which I really hope you don't.
