Honestly, with such classics as A Link to the Past, Super Mario RPG, and the original Star Fox, I think I have more fun with this emulator than any console game I have currently.
Buy some better console games?

No money, no time. And really, not much appeals me lately. I suppose Prototype looked pretty cool, Halo: Reach looks nice. I'm pretty okay with Starcraft 2 right now though.

Reach has a very good campaign, multiplayer feels like halo 3 for the most part to me, except with jet packs. I wouldn't recommend fable 3 unless you just absolutely loved the first two(wasn't a great game tbh, but I enjoyed the story). Just got AC: Brotherhood tonight, my wife's been playing it for the last few hours though so I can't say anything yet. I got TFU II as well, but again, havent gotten to play it yet.

I took this time to finish Medal of Honor story on PC, which was kind of a let down, very anti climactic end.

I've always enjoyed the older games. Back then, they could not make games look realistic, so they put effort into making unique and fun games. Now, most commercial games are based off the same model it seems: Modern/WWII Shooter with different landscapes and a few new weapons.

Fixed (or when have you seen a really *new* weapon [functionality/concept] on a FPS, other than display and name wise)

Look at another genre besides FPS, or another console besides Xbox.

Honestly it seems the same with all genres, the only decent game recently I can think of is Starcraft 2. RPG's/MMO's/FPS/Strategy all seem about the same anymore. Even Halo Reach is identical to Halo 3 multiplayer, though the campaign was pretty good.

Resonance of Fate has a unique battle system. Arkham Asylum was almost perfectly designed, combining Zelda-like adventure with stealth and a reactive combat system - and Arkham City sounds like it will be even better. Metal Gear Solid 4 blows every other game out of the water in every category. Company of Heroes has the best RTS AI I've ever seen, its like watching a bunch of human players in an FPS game from an RTS camera, its about the only WW2 game I've ever liked. Prototype is probably the most fun next-gen (or really current gen at this point) console game I've played, its like a version of GTA4 that doesn't completely suck, and gives you super powers of mass destruction to boot. Assassin's Creed 2 is the perfect example of what a sequel should be, and improves over AC1 in every possible way - I haven't gotten brotherhood yet, but I'm hoping it will be just as impressive. Red Dead Redemption has fun pop and shoot gameplay, a great story (aside from the after ending), and great/fun/replayable multiplayer - and the new Undead Nightmare DLC for it is just as good and is almost its own game. MW2 had the best FPS single player campaign I've ever played, one of the best campaigns of any genre for that matter, too bad the "server" system makes the multiplayer literally unplayable. Crysis was great for an FPS game, on top of having crazy graphics, it added unique tweaks to pretty much every aspect of the FPS genre, from customizing weapons, to having a super suit for varied approaches to situations, its also the only FPS I think I've ever played that actually had a final boss battle like a video game should. Brutal Legend was a fun little Zelda-like game, with an RTS mixed in, and a fantastical story to carry it along. Army of Two: The 40th Day was great all around, and even better as online co-op. I could go on... The point is though! There are plenty of good games out there, if you're willing to sift through the much larger pile of crap ones.

That's all opinions, honestly I don't like some of the ones you listed. Assassin's Creed 2 to honestly seemed the same as 1 to me and I played through both of them getting bored of the second one fairly quickly as a lot of it was identical(gameplay-wise, story-wise was great). Red Dead's story was honestly horrible and redundant, it's just running around hunting for a guy that shot you.. and the ending was horrid as well considering you die(and wtf, been killing hundreds of enemies since the start but you just walk out and suicide instead of being tactical like your character was through the rest of the game??). MW2 single-player nearly copied Red Alert's story as well.

The one's I didn't mention I liked(Crysis, Company of Heroes, Army of Two(but it is a short game), etc), or I have never played.

But yes, there are a few gems every now and then. But they are a few amongst hundreds that pop out every year.
I'm mostly drawing a blank for SNES right now, but try out Soulblazer as well.

Add Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma to this list too - they're the sequels =P
Megaman X, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, Yoshi's Island, Lufia 2, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 6 (get a patch), and so on.

SNES was really a golden age.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Star Fox, Bomberman, Sim City, Street Fighter 2 (Or was that NES) :)

You should check out Rudra no Hihou (Treasure of the Rudra) with an English patch. It was one of Square's last games for the SNES and it's one of their more difficult RPGs. In my opinion, I still think it has one of the best magic systems to date. :)

Super Metroid, anyone? The epitome of exquisite side-scroller shooters.

I have fond memories of the original Disney's Magical Quest. But then again, I'm a sucker for Co-op games, like Goof Troop, and Super Bomberman, and all the DK's.
Secret of Mana is one of my favorites. Check it out. :)
