I've been at Byond for a couple years and I was wondering, are their any other "eras" in Byond besides the 'Rip/Anime Era' (We just got over that hump) introducing the now 'Creation Era' of Byond's History (Yay!). Basically, what are some of the other problems that Byond has experienced in the past? (Whether it has to do with the people or the Byond system itself that's caused a disturbance.)

- I appreciate it. Thanks
I remember seeing DBZ rips when I first got started, and that was back in 2002...

Wow, it's been going on for that long? *writes on his little notepad*

Have any other take overs (like anime) ever happened or different threats to Byond? I remember hearing about a de-compiler of some sort in a past post.

Decompilers haven't ever been a threat, I would say. There are a few that exist for DM, and they have all been used responsibly and kept in mature and sensible hands.

Are you, by chance, indulging in self-flattery?

How is that self-flattery? o.o

Also, there probably aren't any 'eras' to BYOND. The best you could hope for are times when certain games dominated in players - RPGs, then Puzzle, then 'clones', then fangames(for a few months), and then rips. Now we're back to fangames.

Edit: Btw, any way I might be able to get in contact with you, Duelmaster?

Fangames have had the highest playercounts on BYOND since like 2006.
Then I propose a new era.

Oi, no fair! You can't propose eras. If you could, I'd propose the 'Era of Experimental Games'.

Also, peoples republic, rips were the most popular. They were fangame rips, but they go in the rip era. Original fangames are the only ones that count toward fangame eras.

*fans self* Well you know, I am outstanding. Although I'm actually flattering others.

Mhmmmm Keep telling yourself that buddy.

I remember I had some sort of hiccup on one of my harddrives and when I tried to view most files on the drive they were scrambled or erased, but it managed to decompile parts of some of the byond files and I thought that was interesting. I never posted it or talked about it, but I thought it was an unusual thing to see as it seemed completely random.
I believe it's just become the NEStalgia era.
In response to Sum-Sum Productions
It'll probably be more like "The NEStalgia week and a half", or so.
Eh. The game's getting tweeted in -Japan-. I hate that word. Tweet....
