I'm thinking of beginning a game based on greek mythology, or norse mythology, depending on which I think suits my gameplay ideas more.

What do people think of games based on ancient legends about Zeus, or Odin, etc? Would people play those games? Are they interesting and suited to RPGs?

You carry the fate of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done.

Heh! Mister Frodo is not goin' anywhere without me!

I think they agree it's good idea.

However it might be hard to plan everything, before it makes any sense and has story.

I like how I saw the replies, and expected some real criticism/advice, then arrived to see Lord of the Rings quotes... :3

Well I've thought about how I would go about this, and I decided to make it like this. The MORPG is set in Greece, a large vibrant world with numerous cities. It is intertwined with all the classic mythology that you know and love, the Gods do exist and live atop Mount Olympus, many creatures such as the Gorgon, Minotaur and Harpy do exist and wreak havoc wherever they please. You are a powerful warrior who has fought in many battles, and you have been specially chosen by the Pantheon to represent a God of your choice, and gain the powers of said God. There are twelve Olympians so there is a variety of choice.

Players also choose which class they want, and there are currently going to be three choices.

1)Hoplite: They are tough but slow-moving. They typically wield swords and shields, and hack at their enemies. Their main stats are Strength and Defence.

2)Myrmidon: They are known for their agility and adeptness at close-range fighting, they typically wield small blades and daggers, rushing in to stab and quickly kill enemies. Their main stats are Strength and Speed.

3)Toxotes: They are also known for their agility, but are adept at ranged fighting, they typically wield bows and daggers, attacking from afar but can stab up close if necessary. Their main stats are Speed and Accuracy.

Three classes may not seem like much, but the true variety lies in the gods in which the player worships. For instance, worshipping Zeus will give you the Shield of Lightning skill, which conjures a (wait for it) shield of lightning around the user, protecting them from attacks. Or worshipping Hephaestus yields the move Volcanic Rage, which increases the user's health, strength and defence for X amount of time.

I'm still composing all the ideas in my head, what's the thoughts on what I have so far?

If you build it, they will come.

Okay, it's a great idea. I love the involvement of the gods. You gotta look at it like this:

Mythology-based games are extremely marketable. You could also think of what you could incorporate to players that subscribe and maybe make a few bucks off of this project.

Look at God of War. That game is based on Greek mythology. Loved it!
A long time ago, I saw a project under development that was going to based on contemporary Atlantis myths, the 2012 phenomenon, etc. It looked like a really cool idea, but sadly it was never done and the project, as far as I know, was abandoned. I think you have a great idea, though probably harder to do that your regular, fight-the-dragon-and-save-the-princess routine because you need to make sure you really know the material and implement the details. It sounds like you do.

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!

*Ahem* Anyways, Mythology based games are very easy to create as well. You have the entire world and lore right in front of you already, so it cuts out the brainstorming for that portion. You have the good Gods, the Leaders of the Hero's, and you have the Evil Gods, the Villans. It's a match made in heaven for game developers and Idealists.

You have to have a sense of humor in the game development world. Otherwise you'll just go insane.
