Maybe I'm just not looking anymore, but it feels like BYOND's trolls have been more tame recently. The really big ones are nowhere to be found, and the ones that remain can be perfectly civil when the time comes. They're still around, but it's an inevitable part of having a website with social functions. What happened on your website was definitely over the top, however.

In some ways, you were asking for it. I don't mean to offend, but the whole thing came across as very unprofessional and not well thought out. Because of this, the community immediately began to criticize in a harsh way. There are some things that seem seriously off about the whole project. For one, there's what's been stated above that only 70% of the money goes to the worker... however there are some cases where there is none. I was informed that some people on your site never consented to be on there, which means that anybody hiring their services is paying their money to... who? Beyond that, the lack of a terms of service or privacy policy is also concerning.

There are just a lot of things that make the whole thing feel like a scam; and if not a scam, a very poorly thought out idea. I say this not to offend, but to criticize. Hopefully it comes across that way.

Dude, fack off. You're probably one of those people trolling my website. I never did anything to you but you keep attacking me and my website. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to block you soon.

What? I asked everyone who wants to work for my site and they said yes. I thought it meant their byond names would be allowed to be there. 70% is a good amount. Unless they want to work through Classified Ads here. The money goes to me then I pay them.
There was no need to go off on a tangent and start insulting Enigmatic for his constructive criticism. I understand you are trying to make some money for BYOND as well as yourself but you're doing it through a medium already available: Classifieds.
Granted the Classified Ads section is not as expanded as the idea I assume you are attempting to portray but poor execution is poor execution. Acceptance of that and asking for tips or help to improve is one way to go. Cutting the entire idea is another.
If you are going to host a website advertising "professional" programmers, the least you can do is have the website programming be/look professional.

No offense but the middle man, you in this case, is not necessarily needed. Someone already stated that. I could take 3 easy steps and pay the programmer 100% cash and then your services are nullified.

I think you should have brainstormed more on ideas on how to help BYONd before executing your idea because you may think it is good. We all have ideas, possibly great ones, and I hate when my idea is disagreed with even though I would be carrying most of the payload, but it is necessary as a mature human being to get criticism and ponder on it.
Well I think my website is good and even moderator LordAndrew admit it. There is a difference between, nice constructive criticism and trolling which Enigmatic and others have been doing here and on my website.
The site is well intentioned. I'm not sure the implementation (or starting resources) particularly help it, but it's well intentioned.
Thank you Stephen001. See another respectable moderator says my site is good.
Well intentioned.*
I am still failing to see where I am trolling when I have been very serious about my lack of faith in this idea.

If that is true then why did you apply to join us?
I believe I just signed up for an account, not to be hired.
No it seems you applied for hiring.
Do you have an account management page to rescind that? Because clicking on my username does nothing even though it is a link. There seems to be absolutely no way for me to alter any of my "settings" on this site. I probably couldn't even change my e-mail or password manually if I wanted to.

Shouldn't people get some kind of e-mail confirmation regarding this stuff?
I don't know what you're talking about.

There should be a way to set yourself as not wanting to be hired, but just a member of the community.

I click my username expecting to go to an account management page, but nothing happens.

If I can't manage my account, i am just disappointed.

When someone signs up they should maybe get a confirmation e-mail. Especially if they signed up as someone to be hired.

The registration is so vague that if just signing up means I want to be hired, then "we" are doing this all wrong boo.

I checked the "Want to Apply?" page, and I know that wasn't the sign up form I went through.

I totally agree I haven't seen any real trolling in awhile.

One simple question. What does your site provide for programmers and artists looking to make money off their experience that the Byond classified section does not?

Because I just don't see why someone would work for you and give off 30% of the profit when they can use Byond and keep all of it(unless byond takes a cut which i doubt).

Also, it has come to my attention that you're not even as experienced in programming as the ones supposedly working for you.

This whole idea is just really sketchy.
I just want to point out that no one cares if a BYOND Moderator said your site is good. BYOND Moderators are few compared to the rest of BYOND. You know, your target audience.
I don't care how few BYOND Moderators there are. My target audience are people willing to spend money which trolls do not do.
No, let's get this straight.

Your target audience is the BYOND Community. Why? Because you can't target only the people who have money to spend. You can't know who they are, so you share your site with the entire BYOND community (My point here is proven by what you already did with the site). Doing this means that some people are going to go to it without money. Doing this also means that among those people are going to be trolls and people with bad intentions.
