I would have posted this somewhere else but seeing as I need help and want to post my progress I figured here would be ok.
I'm trying to find a good way to make it look like the player is turning to stone.
I haven't been able to find anything helpful, so any-help would be appreciated and I look forward to showing you guys the result.

You could Always do the medusa-type of changing. Making a player slowly fade to grey tones. it's easy and everyone recognizes it.

You could somewhat have stone coming from the feet of the base to the head as an animation ^-^

Then use the original character and have the stone form fade into a solid (non-transparent) color. While it's transitioning to the stone effect, add some cracks in the stone to make it look authentic... |
Not dumb and lazy. It's another way of thinking about it.
Branks, try to not put people down. |
you could make stones come from the ground and shoot towards the base absorbing the stones and slowly turning into stone ?

How about this? http://puu.sh/2RRvo.dmi
This was made using Paint.NET, which is a "simpler" (and completely free) image editing tool than Photoshop, despite being just as good for just about anything, really. |
