So I felt like creating this thread since I myself am curious to see how much someone actually improves from practicing and learning a skill when you can clearly see from the start they aren't that great at it.

I'll be going through tutorials made for pixel artist and posting my results each time and hopefully this may also be inspiring to others also.

Best of luck to all of you who are pixel artist or starting.

This is isometric of course but also part of pixeling a good starting point for shapes and structuring I hope.

Side note: My monitor is darker then others so colors I use may vary to you and I, anyone may inform me if the colors I used look very saturated or you'd recommend other colors.

a few rules to this post which I hope you will follow is that I'm using this thread to track my own art and not that of others so I would hope nobody would mind not posting any of their art in this thread.
Sounds like an interesting project; I'll follow this.
applez20

This apple is a demonstration of parallel lighting from a very far away light source to the top left. The tutorial used was based on lighting and I chose an apple for practice.

Reference how an apple looks. It helps on coloring, shape, and it helps a lot.

@Vixiv, Reference how exactly? The more detail on steps will help. What does reference mean in art compared to other things?
I want to hopefully help some mentors expand their art and help me as well if they would like too. I feel a master can sometimes learn more in some areas when they reteach what they have mastered to a student. Almost works like a self critique that may only be attained from having a student learn what you do in that light. Of course I may be wrong but when I had mentored others in tasks I was better at then them. I did realize and advance much higher in my owns skills possibly only because I then stopped to critique myself but this an opportunity to any who is interested. As always should you help me, I will happily help others in what I have learned also.

My Skype name is (Astrlix).
Oh i mean reference as in google up images of apples. I know it sounds dumb and you probably know what an apple is yady ya, but it does help a lot. That's one of the thing pixel artists can do to get better but they rarely do it. Also try a few more layers to round up the edges.
Sounds good I'll use an apple i have or an image, see if I can get my apple any better.
Photobucket Used a model as a reference for this apple and chose to do more color sections then all the colors shown in the apple.
Yeah, and Dayumm that looks so much better. This is how referencing can help ;3
Im skeptical that you made the second apple....but if you did dang its 10x utter than your first.

If you zoom in very closely you can see the dithering I did. Might be cheating but I took a few colors from the original and shaped a silhouette from it. When creating mine i colored it by what my eyes saw as color sections.

Mine is the one of the left and the original on the right

So my next or one of the next images I'm going to make is a bed and this time I'm creating my own silhouette just from looking at it and hoping I can make it turn out into something great. I may do more simpler tutorials before finishing it but, we shall see. I will also be selecting my own colors.

If anyone knows a good set of tutorials to complete to get really good at pixeling let me know. Also if you think of some tasks that would help me improve greatly works also. Having more trouble with larger sized objects and them turning out more blurry then contrast.
