Should be "Prf X - The Maya EotW"
Got stuck in a pit in kalahari. Dang.
Great entries so far! Congratulations to all who submitted.
First here's mine: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25108410/ bravo1%20lux%20regnum%20EOTW%20competition.zip

It's unfinished and I hate it but here it is, lol.

Second: Could we all get links to the other games? I'd love to play them!
Went ahead and made a hub entry: http://www.byond.com/games/SuperAntx/CrusadersCavern

I will probably add more content later, but for now it should be meaty enough for the competition.
Bravo1; your game is really cool.

Darke; Kalahari, lagged me so bad I couldn't play it :[

SuperAntx, your game was the best so far. D: It grabbed my attention with that story you had at the begging with the music. I thought about creating a game like this a week ago, but I never got around to it. Good job on making it {;
Bravo1: Even though it's unfinished and a bit buggy, It was a great effort and I enjoyed playing it. I couldn't get enough of those bouncy wheels! (I jumped more than I walked)

D4RK3: Yours made quite a first impression, if it weren't for those blocky edges and stick-like vines, I'd have thought it was on the SNES, great use of SFX as well.

SuperAntX: I really liked the way yours played. In regards to the prologue, bonus points on the clicking to speed through the text. Your game reminded me of Zelda yet felt original and somewhat new. The first screech caught me off guard and I fell into a cat stance with my back arched and hairs up, not cool man, not cool. xD

With these three guys, I can't decide whether SuperAntX or D4RK3 won since they're both so different and great in their own ways. I will definitely attempt to dig back into coding, especially when contest have a good chunk of change to boot. ;)

~Good luck judging this Oasis!
Dang it Mechan! The vines swing fine when they're long but my mapper didn't find an opportunity to put in the long vines.
did you find mine oasis i sent it on the 29th

edit: i've seen your post, but the game name is actually called Anthony the aadvark's unanticipated adventure!
good luck everybody,

xxx

My work here is done.

Well hell, I'm kind of glad. I only spent about a half hour making the icons for the player so I'm fairly elated to know it came out good.

Honestly, one of the main reasons why I didn't finish it: After the first scene was finished, I lost interest in working on the game because I couldn't come up with any ideas for a plot or level design. Brutus and all that stuff only popped into my head about 12 hours before the end of the contest. I wish I had done better -_-

Thanks for submitting everyone. I'll have the results ASAP.

Nice! Going to finish them all.
not gonna make excuses for mine
Finally got to playing them all. Here're my thoughts:

Anthony the Aardvark and the Unanticipated Adventure by Bumblemore
I was actually pretty entertained by this one for awhile. It's a simple concept and not a first by any means, but I thought it was really funny. The music definitely caught me off guard. I only wish it were longer and more challenging!

Battle of Cyond by VixiV
The first time I played this I couldn't really figure out what was going on. I got my body but was stuck in the first area with no way out. The second time I played, I actually got past that to the game itself.

The game looks great and the music is catchy. I had a big problem with the text on screen not being centered in the text area. I got a big of a laugh out of everybody's names. I wish it had pixel movement as that would have made combat a lot more enjoyable. Overall, I thought it was nice but needed a lot of polish. It was definitely good for a laugh though.

Crusader's Cavern by SuperAntx
The game was darn fun and well polished. The art looks great for its style and the music and sound effects set the mood well. I loved the story setup in the beginning and the tone that it set for the entire game. Overall, the game was fun to play especially when darkness came over the room and I had to fight enemies. Until that time, I began to get a little tired of the light beam puzzles. The game seems to be complete and it's very well done; I'd have to say it's my favorite out of the bunch.

End of the World by Ultimate Game Maker
Not much to say about this game. There really was no gameplay at all. I'm not even sure why it's on this list.

Kalahari by D4RK3 54B3R & Mechanios
I was really excited when I started playing this game. It looks great, the gameplay is excellent, and it has a lot of cool little things in it that aren't used often enough on BYOND games. The parallax scrolling is one of those things, and it looks excellent. The vines were impressive for their math, but lacked an aesthetically pleasing look. All I could have wanted is more content and a little more testing for bug fixes.

Lux Regnum by Bravo1
I was so disappointed by this one! It had so much potential, but ended so prematurely with little to no action. It played great, looked great, sounded great, and could have gone far. Like Kalahari it made use of some nice parallax scrolling and the gameplay was great and smooth. I hope Bravo decides to pick this back up and make something out of it.

Photovoltaic by Higoten
I wish I had more patience; I found it hard for this game to keep my attention. The art is pretty simple and the gameplay seem to have to do mostly with clicking and interacting with things like solar panels.

Startegem by Aaiko
I hosted this game online and got destroyed by SuperAntx. It took me awhile, but I finally got the hang of what the game is about. Overall, it's very fun to play online! I enjoyed the strategy and design of the whole thing. The design was very pleasing with good-looking art, nice sound effects, and nice visual effects when things happened on the board. Everything came together to make for a fun experience to learn in and to play in.

SUN by Makeii
I first started this game and got really excited for what it would play like. The movement and animations were sexy and smooth. All of the art looked great as well. Then I realized that there was nothing to do except walk around. You can't interact with the keys or doors or anything. I hope Makeii continues this or uses the art in something else.

The Maya by Prf X
This game uses tiled movement for sidescroller gameplay, which absolutely does not work for me. I found it difficult to play and stay sane. On the other hand, the art was very nice and it had great lighting.

i was going to add more jokes like "Come this way!" on a casino sign leading to a trap and a hell of a lot more levels but i didn't want to ruin what I'd already got by adding pointless levels

Yut:
thanks for playing, i thought the aardvark cursor was a bit of a hint, next time I'll add some more explanation
edit: just found Gug's and it seems like he's done a far better job than me

Bumblemore
It got all quiet in here.
Didn't really have time to work on an entry, but I played em, my favorite was without a doubt SuperAntx's "Crusader's Cavern". Seemingly a simple puzzle game where you rotate mirrors, until it becomes night, then you fight off monsters. First time night came it scared the crap out of me, the sound and sudden shift in scenery, it still gave me a jolt the second time, even though I was expecting it. Boss monster was a little long, but it was a fun boss fight. Great job SuperAntx, and everyone else who managed to submit a game.
I'm just glad someone enjoyed Vixi and I''s entry.
It was a bit of a rush job *2 days* but since atleast one person found it humorous it was worth it-despite the lack of polish :P
