I recently re-installed BYOND and I've recently been getting the notification for having News, however when I open the BYOND Pager...there's nothing there. The Log has nothing, there's nothing in the bottom window on the Pager, nothing at all.
I remember back when BYOND 4.0 just started and the BYOND Pager was first being used that News, Updates, and other things would show up in that window in red, so I don't really know why I'm getting the notification but nothing is showing up.
Using the Help Topic's Questions:
What operating system and/or browser are you using?
I am on Windows 7 32-Bit. I'm not sure browser fits the issue, however I use Chrome. I also have IE7 or 8 and an old version of Firefox installed.
What were you trying to do when the problem occurred?
Nothing really. I would just be doing something in Dream Maker and then I would get the notification for having news, or browsing the Pager and have the bottom status bar say I have news, but I cannot find it anywhere.
What actually happened, and how did it differ from what you expected?
I was told I have news, however when I try to find it it is no where to be found. I expected it to show up with a link in the bottom window as it used to do.
What steps did you follow?
I checked all over the Pager for any type of News/Updates window that you could access, thinking the setup had changed. I also searched for recent topics but could not find anything.
Any help on this would be great. Unfortunately I did not think to grab a screenshot of this occurring or I would have one to show it.

For example, when you posted that, I got a message in my Pager: "<--(6:48 pm) BYOND Alert: FIREking has replied to your post '"You have news!"...Where?'. Unfortunately, receiving faulty "You Have News!" alerts is a long-time bug (See: bug report ) with no known cause or reliable way to reproduce and stop it. However, the issue typically just tends to go away on its own over time. Good luck! | |
