The background is terribad, but I'm at a loss for how to draw the mountains in the distance in any sort of a better way with the 5-color palette restriction.
Any suggestions/thoughts?

Been chugging away at my failed Gi2W entry so that I can get it polished up for a release. I decided to take some time away from programming to do a bit more artwork, and wound up working on the title screen.
The background is terribad, but I'm at a loss for how to draw the mountains in the distance in any sort of a better way with the 5-color palette restriction. Any suggestions/thoughts? | |
To be completely honest, this looks incredible as-is. If I were to suggest anything, it would be to add a cloud or two under the title, but above the mountain peaks.

Thanks. I tried my hands at clouds, but they just kind of looked bad, so I cut them out. I might give it a second shot, though.
I'm confident about that foreground image. It's not perfect, but it, I feel, is me actually starting to come into my own with the five-color thing. The TM and copyright marks are there as more of a tongue in cheek kind of thing than anything else. Trademarks and copyright are implied, and don't have to be listed, I know, but if you look back at all the old gameboy title screens (which is what I was trying to pay homage to), they all list them as well. So I figured, go for the full package. | |

Zoom in a bit, one arm is behind the guy, then the other is infront of him. Ever watch wrestling and see a guy named the Hurricane?

Brilliant. You just made browsing the art & sound section daily worth it. Seriously. I do it for the rare piece like this, and this is the best I've seen in a while; excluding a couple things that turned out to be rips.
I do agree on the clouds, though, and they're simpler than you might expect. The only tricky part is the colors, but a couple basic clouds could go a long way. That's all I feel this needs. | |

Just replace it with a color you're already using and tell people to squint their eyes, it's what I was gonna do with my one color.

There we go, I tried some clouds. I failed at dithering the title, and I've wasted too much time on this already. I'll let you do that. Maybe move the sun farther left in between the two peaks...
