Hello everyone, my name is GamingEthos and I am one of the lead designers behind Poseidon Studios. Mainly, I help come up with new ideas for games while also doing the majority of programming at the moment. I am not the most skilled at pixel art but, I can make it. Today, we just wanted to make this developer log to talk a little bit about the game we are working on for the Developer game of the week.
We don't have byond membership yet which is preventing us from making a game hub for our game but, depending on the success of the project in the contest, we hope to push forward and improve the game for public release. We started about 3-4 days ago and decided on creating a zombie arcade type shooter. Due to our time limit to make the game we started with the byond gun demo by DarkerEmerald using his icons and programming code and thus building on the source code with our own source code. Of course the gun demo is very flexible, so adjusting it to work the way we wanted was pretty easy.
As of now we have a workable demo of the character being able to move, shoot, reload, pick up weapons, and die. There is still so much we still wish to add but, since we only have about 4 days left we need to focus on simplicity.
Another big obstacle is creation of our zombie wave system which will spawn zombies each round accordingly and each round increasing the difficulty. Not only that but, coming up with a simple yet effect zombie AI system that always has zombies on the right path.
So those are our goals and setbacks that we must face to finish this game. Hopefully, we will have time to add some sort of hud considering that the game doesn't have the best of graphics but, what lacks in the visual department, we will make up for in the gameplay department.
~Guns 15%
~Sound 10%
~Wave System 0%
~Character Base Upgrade 50%
~Lobby System 0%

BTW: The name of our game is called ZOMG(WIP thanks to Brank...).

This concept sounds oddly familiar..

Funny you mention that, cause that concept also sounds oddly familiar. I would've posted a href there, but every zombie game ever made would be hard to fit into a href. Borderlands and Dead Island are first to come to mind though.

Mind you that I was speaking with solely BYOND in mind.

Why would you keep only BYOND in mind when talking about something you clearly were inspired by outside BYOND?
