I'd like to work on a side-scrolling fighter like SF2 only with the scale of the LSW line of sprites shown below. (right click view image for full size)
Is this type of system and scale easily accomplished within the parameters of the DM language?
Thanks.

Yes. Icon sizes don't matter.

Thanks.
Are there any well known side-scrolling fighters on BYOND? I remember way back in the early 2000s someone had a full-sized street fighter side-scroller, 2v2 w/ everyone else in spectator mode. |

I finished the code that allows for multi-round matches between two fighters, but never released it because of the amount of graphics work needed. It's basically a really basic SF2 clone. I'd gladly release the code for others to use. |

Yeah. That game was the best fighter side-scroller on byond. It was called Stick Fighters by Gooseheaded. I was just learning programming and remember asking Gooseheaded how did he get the stick fighters to always face each other. That was the day I learned about get_dir() and thats there were some unique builtin function and how to use them.
I've spoken to Gooseheaded, kinda recently... I was very disappointed to discover he doesn't even remember making the game and has certainly lost the source code... So either.. he has done lots of drugs, has a bad memory, or I'm thinking of the wrong person.. I just find it unlikely for someone to forget making an original innovative classic. Like if the host files were still around it would definitely be a BYOND Classic no doubt. |
