This is horrible, I imagine many people gave up learning to program because they came across it. Consider for more than the option (self-activated in the first attempt to create a world) to start from an introductory lib. (Like Your First World)

Honestly, I don't see why that's so horrible. Maybe having something come up for a user's first time that directs them to the DM Guide would be helpful, though.
