Well, I at last managed to install BYOND on WINE and I'm amazed how well it is integrated(my first day actually using GNU/Linux, my first time using WINE).
Dream Maker and Dream Seeker seem to work fine so far(except that they take quite long to load, but maybe that's my slow CPU), but I have a problem with byond.exe - When I try to login, my CPU usage raises to maximum for a bit, then the window blacks out and disappears and I have to terminate the process.
I have no idea what the problem might be, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the internet connection. Anyone mind helping me out there?
Btw., I am on Ubuntu Intrepid if it matters.

Oh, err.. 1.0.1, though I actually downloaded and compiled by myself.. I guess it's still using the apt-version. Thought by making it it also gets installed? Meh, I'll just try to install it from their repositories.

Very well, it works, but.. It lags like hell, I have about 1 FPS o.0 Any way to fix it? :'(

Not really, which is why it has a Bronze rating, problems even for normal use.

So there is no other way for me to play BYOND games without getting lagged to hell, other than installing Windoze?
I installed the proprietory drivers for my ATI and it seems to work better now, though it's still quite laggy. |

The mechanisms BYOND uses for drawing are just not fully implemented in Wine, so I guess so.

Well, that atleast leaves the hope that it will be implemented some time.

Did you read our AppDB Entry?
There's a few tips on there to make it more compatible. |
wine --version
I suspect the version of Wine Ubuntu packs is 1.0, which wouldn't do you all that well.
