You stopping at 3rd gen was a huge mistake 4th is the best time to stop. The 4th gen was super important because Wi-Fi battles was introduced and global trading. Battling all sorts of trainers from different countries After that gen THEN it gets outa hand. Though mega evolutions is a great addition to the game since it's cool and made some useless Pokemon valuable in comptative play.

Mystery dungeon was also addictive both original copies of red rescue team and blue rescue team.

LoG was not bad only because I was a kid and my range of fun things to do were slim since I had no control of anything while younger.
First generation master race. 2nd gen was acceptable. 3rd generation is when things started to get shaky. 4th generation is when I was like "nintendo pls". And we all know how 5th generation went:

I am failing at becoming a programmer. Nothing i've tried is griping or interactive enough for my low attention span, nevertheless, I will continue trying to make a change.

I will attempt making it through the Blue Book again... hopefully I make it o_o.
Either that or I will sacrifice a few goats to acquire the knowledge and experience.

As for GBA games...
Golden Sun 1 & 2
Pokemon
Yu-gi-oh Reshef of Destruciton
Advance Wars
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Kingdom Hearts: A Chain of Memories

Myself and a grip of other DMers didn't start out by reading the guide, it was more along the lines of learning by doing. This isn't to say you shouldn't read it though; this is to say experience is the best teacher at your disposal.

I'd recommend trying to create something you are interested in. It doesn't matter your current ability to program - perfectionism is the leading cause of procastination. You will learn everything and some more on the journey, should you give it your all.
Now we need to start a gba games thread, just to see everyone's sexuality
Don't forget Beyblade G-Revolution and the Medabots RPG game.
I want money. Gotta be free though.

I most definitely intend too. I bought 2 books that was recommended to me as a beginner and it explains a lot but when it comes to to application it doesn't help where I need it or maybe it is just my lack of understanding. Honestly, my dream and where I am currently are lifetimes apart and that can be discouraging but one thing I will not do is give up...

But thank you, going through the Byond forums and your comment has revitalized me at the very least and gave me some kind of direction.

Keep cycling through these Classiffied ads, and still can't get my hands on a good Programmer or iconner / mapper. Goddamit someone take my money.

Median pay for an entry level programmer is about $57000/yr. A 'good' programmer will cost you more. You are EXTREMELY unlikely to find a good programmer in the BYOND classified ads. There are a (very) few here, but most likely you'll get hobbyists at best, or kids with a vastly inflated sense of their programming abilities and the attention span of a flea.

Byond calibre programmers are not official salary, corporate programmers. I don't know why you are trying to make this distinction. Do you really expect to be paid a salary for a free game development software project? GET REAL!
Do I? No, but I'm not a good programmer, and that's what he asked for. I described a 'Byond calibre' programmer for him so he would know what to expect.

I understand, it just seems like a fairly large stretch for any programmer of salary-quality to come onto byond and expect to be paid like they are working for a triple A publisher or developer, you know what I'm saying? :)

Don't even make me bring up gen 1's atrocious character designs.

Grimer and Muk are literally piles of poo.
Pidgey is just a bird with anime eyes.
Ratata is a- wait for it- rat.
Diglet is a lump in a hole in the ground.
Dugtrio is just THREE Diglets, woooooo.

Don't wear those nostalgia goggle's too tight. Lol.

preorder bonuses are both good & bad. its good cus you are technically supporting the devs before the game is finished. but the insane prices and store exclusivity ruined it... blame gamestop for that one
