Hello Readers! It occurred to me yesterday that I write clippings for some of the great developments that go on within BYOND, yet I have never written about any of my personal projects. So before the next Within BYOND, my goal is to do exactly that. For now, check out the projects and advancements which developers have taken the time out of their schedules to inform us about!

BYOND Engine

A small security fluke has been fixed as of recently. Users are recommended to upgrade to BYOND version 506.1249, and users are encouraged to upgrade to beta version 507.1274, which contains additional features and stability fixes.

BYOND Games

Weekly updates for Just a Game are still being published. Kevin208 posted a few screenshots for prospective players to view, along with interface improvements and changes. Additionally, Kevin208 has held a poll asking players if they would rather see preset classes, or the ability to make custom classes, with the latter being the victor (Quite unlike the formerly held poll).

Moving on to version 4.4, Cow RP has been updated by Bovine Buddy. In addition to bug fixes, a new feature involves blueprinting and multiple characters.

A progress update from Xirre shows that A Birth of Magick has had plenty of improvements over the past two weeks. These improvements include smooth interface elements, a new quest giver, skill gains, and more.

Yutput has released three games recently, which he has been working on for the past few months. First in line is Championsof the Holy Grail, the successor to Footrace for the Holy Grail, where players battle it out to be the last one standing on the arena battle ground.

Next, is Super Shooter Station, where players rush to crates to find weapons and items which they will use to gun down other players in order to become the last one alive.

and last, but not least, is Epic: Origin, which has game play similar to the popular MOBA category. Players attempt to overtake the other side in this PVP game, while defending their home base.

Also relevant to the Epic storyverse, Yutput has created a little text adventure worth reading (Type help if you can't figure out what to do).

After a short hiatus, Troithea, the sandbox survival game, is back under development, starting from scratch due to complications. A request for help has been made for those who are interested in assisting development.

Taking a small break from Event Horzion, Manio has created a game in a day, called Drunken Wizards, where players try to shoot each other with fireballs.

JapanesePottery has posted the status of FolkLore, a RPG currently under development in the team's free time. While not much new information is currently available, plenty of new mockups can be viewed.

Alienx26 has posted a new update for Shoot!, a zombie survival game. New additions include ranks that are inspired by the US Army, and skills, to which ideas have been requested.

With exams and the holiday season gone, Boundless is at version 0.8, featuring new professions to play as, NPCs and monsters, and a revamped "Digging" skill. Boundless is an open world role playing game being developed by GluscapGames.

The pet raising simulation game, BreederMon was updated by its creator Lugia319 three times since the last publication. While one update focused on changes to the back end, another questioned players if they were interested in seeing all of their pets stats (and evidently they were interested), and the latest update documents the ability to catch wild animals, and breed with them. Hints have been made at the possibility of minigames, to play with your pet.

Oasiscircle has posted several videos visualizing the developmental milestones of Alchemist. One includes two AIs playing against each other, Another demonstrates the excellent use of animations and the new interface. He also offers information on the new RPG elements of Alchemist, including coins, quests, and bosses to face. The old ELO system will also begetting an upgrade, featuring "placement matches" and seasonal ELO adjustments.

Pixel Realms updated us on the developmental status of Severed world. GIFS show the smooth interface transitions that have been made, along with lively boss battle samples. Exciting plans have been laid out for the storyline, crafting, and more, as the game begins to come together.

JustinOreo has published an open world building and chatting game called Icon Chatters. Players can share and trade icons and music, while talking and role playing in an open world environment where they can build their own creations. Check out the website here.

Zombie shooter Feed by Kumorii has been open sourced (again!). New developers may want to take note of this resource. Some of the art assets have been clipped in favor of using them in a different project.

MicrORPG by Mr_Goober has seen continued progress. In the fourteenth and double fifteenth progress reports, he has worked on generating screen text, developing a map editor which uses his ZML library, script usage, and showing a few icons. Check out his progress in full detail, as the source is available for interested developers.

BYOND Resources

  • Zercronious has published Vector Movement, allowing for very smooth movements.

MicrORPG is being developed for use in the WebClient now, and I'll probably make DS a second resort.

narto!
A bit late on our bi-weekly post, I think, but here's another update from Severed!

In response to Pixel Realms
That shit is off the freakin hook.
Hey, thanks for another mention! So much awesome stuff happening on BYOND lately.
CloudMagic, nice to see my game engine used and repurposed to make non-Naruto role playing games. Feel free to use the graphics and code base as you like. Naruto GOA is long gone from my involvement and it is nice to see the code base serving as a base for people. (This is Masterdan).
What is even happening there, I am so confused. lol
Sounds interesting, I can help test/hunt bugs for it when ur ready to do that.
Just say Naruto based game. But still it looks good and I'd like to try it aswell.

face-paced action

wat

Also, I'm not sure that's the real Masterdans. Going to need some pictures to confirm.
Ah, well the graphics are open source as far as I'm concerned anyway.

Maybe I'll open up my old key so I can release some libraries and old content for use in some legitimate way.

I appreciate that. I'm wondering what your opinion is on someone essentially creating a "better" version of GOA than FKI. Would you be open to giving someone else the hub if they're able to beat him out in terms of game quality ? Feel free to page me.

I dont know what FKI is, but If somebody put together a really good improvement on GOA following the key concepts which makes it fall under that name, then I would of course put it on the hub. For sure. Big if though.
