BYOND Build Number:443.1021
Operating System:Windows XP
Video/Graphics Card:Unknown
Game Hub/Link:N/A
Internet Connection Type:Wireless
Firewalls/Routers:Windows Firewall

Problem Description:When I log into byond it says Logged in as Situs67[Offline] and stays that way, never making me public. This just happened after downloading this new version. The previous versions worked perfectly fine. I have no idea what the problem is and would really appreciate some help. Thanks!

Steps to Reproduce Problem:I click on the byond icon on my desktop, log in, and I never go public.
Please have a look at this article.
Furthermore, ensure that your firewall is not 'hash checking' for the version number of BYOND to determine accessibility to the internet.

Well I read the article and my firewall says it's already on the exception list. I took it off the exception list then put it back on and still nothing. After i turned the firewall off to see if that would help any and that didn't work either.

You say that you read the article, but you do not mention if you followed the advice/instructions.
In response to Schnitzelnagler
Yeah I followed them all, even renaming the cfg file and deleting the cache

When you open the pager, do you have 'Save account for offline access' selected?
If so, is there a key.txt file in the folder where you found the cfg sub-folder?
In response to Schnitzelnagler
'Save account for offline access' is selected. However, the key.txt is not in the folder

Try disabling the option and then connecting.
In response to Schnitzelnagler
After disabling the option and attempting to connect it says: "BYOND Hub: Connection failed"
In response to Situs67
Aha, so we are kind of one step further now.
Could you please try these instructions.
Thank you in advance.
In response to Schnitzelnagler
I followed those instructions and it doesn't seem to do anything.
In response to Situs67
There is something preventing BYOND from connecting to the hub.
This could either be software, such as a firewall, or your router. Are you sure that you have only one firewall?
In response to Schnitzelnagler
I can't seem to find another. I used to have Norton but that was uninstalled a long time ago
In response to Situs67
Does your router have any restrictions?
In response to Schnitzelnagler
Not that I know of
In response to Situs67
Well, there has to be something on your computer opposing a restriction. And there are not that many possibilities.
I'm sorry, but...

Every modern modem will double as a router now days (or at the very least: most).

You also state your internet connection type is wireless. Is that via a wireless router or from a wireless access point plugged into the network which also has a router?

I've noticed that some wireless access points will double as wireless routers (man it's irritating...); if that is your case, you will need to forward a port on that.

Your router comes with a built in firewall to better protect your network from threats, as such, you will have to forward ports in order for applications on the internet to talk to applications on your computer. Normally, if your computer initiates the communication, the router will let it though. This isn't always the case as virus' have been known to do this.

As such, you'll need to forward a port for your pager within your modem/router in order to let it communicate with BYOND.

Go to your router with a pen and paper and write down the brand and model number. Then head to http://www.portforward.com and look up the corresponding router model. That site will tell you how to forward ports for BYOND. Once you've done that, you'll need to apply the port to the pager via File -> Preferences -> Advanced and setting the Pager Port to the same number you used in your router.
