Problem Description:

Okay, first off, I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I have firewall with Byond as an exception enabled. I even tried to turn off the firewall completely to see if that worked, but it didn't. I have Byond version 412.977 (4.0 Beta).

Okay, I log into the program and it shows me logged in. I also tried logging into the website afterwards. This version doesn't have the Hub tab like the previous versions, and the screen of the program window stays white. There is a My Hub menu in the toolbar, but it doesn't have anything in it and it won't let me add anything either.

I keep trying to log into games, but it won't let me go to any of them. I click the links to the games, but nothing at all happens. But when I look on the program thing again, it says Central Hub Is Not Accessable.

When I try going to the Byond website in the program to choose games, it takes me to the folder in my computer instead and says "Website not found" in the white screen.

I have no idea how to fix this problem and all that. If it helps any, I'm on dial-up so I don't have a router or a modem box.
You say it shows you that you are logged in.
But does it state [Public] or [Offline] in your BYOND client on the little status bar?

Which Browser are you using and do you by any chance know how to use your DOS shell to ping a remote server?
Then you could try to ping the BYOND Hub central and see if you can even reach it, or if you have a large package drop rate.

Does your problem occur only occaional, or is it a constant hazzle?

Oh, I do love how you don't actually fill out the little form given to you but just put the information somewhere in your post to be found. Just, you know, next time....

Anyway, I noticed for some reason when using 412 lately it would constantly say "BYOND Central is not accessible" in the pager, then I upgraded to 414 and all was well.

Here is where you will find the new (and older) builds for BYOND, and it looks like even though 414 is brand new, 415 just came out! Go download the newer/newest version and see if your problem fixes.

Chances are, re-installing BYOND was what did the trick for you, I doubt the new version had anything to do with it really.

here says: BYOND Hub: connection failed

i cant even log in on byond.

u could put the link to us.
would be a lot better for me and for who still has this problem.
BYOND version 416.981 is having this same problem again... they really need to test this part out before releasing it to the public.

Now I can't even play a single game. Mind you I've already tried a full reinstall and nothing changes. It's just not talking to the Central Hub server.

If it is indeed a bug, it's very hard to find because the majority of users aren't experiencing it. I've never had the issue and neither have the BYOND Staff.

Do you have anything, and I mean anything, that could possibly interfere with the process? Routers, Firewalls and the like are almost always the reason. Bare in mind, Windows has it's own firewall automatically enabled by default.

To disable the windows firewall, go to "Network Connections" (Either in your start bar, or open up "My Network Places", right click and hit properties) and right click your current active network connection (the icon should tell you if it's firewalled with Windows Firewall or not) and click properties. From there, click on the "Advanced" tab. You'll have an option to configure Windows Firewall, and we'll do just that. Click on the Settings button and you'll be taken to the Windows Firewall control panel.

Here you have two options, one is to just disable the firewall and be on your way. This is entirely up to you to do if you want.

The other is to allow BYOND exceptions. To do so, click on the "Exceptions" tab. See the program list, if BYOND isn't on there, click on "Add Program". From here, you'll see a list of programs on your computer. You'll want to add "BYOND", "Dream Seeker" and "Dream Daemon".

Bare in mind, the rest of you having this issue. You have to add in "Dream Seeker" as well. If you only have BYOND as an exception, that's probably why you're failing to connect to games.

I just wrote a tutorial with in-depth information on how to do this, if you'd rather read that.

I did what you said, but didnt work.
Anyway, i'll just leave byond untill they fix it or make a new version

The problem is more likely on your end than there's. What you're describing is a text book example of firewall or router behaviour.
