What is allowed to be present in BYOND games? Are we allowed to have mature content in games, etc.

Pr0n/hentai games aren't allowed. That's how Falacy originally got banned. Too bad he didn't stay banned =[

Then I guess that means anything is allowed in-game, but the content on the hub must be controlled? I always assumed that it was both.

I see, I asked this question cause I think mature games should be made for the more older people on BYOND. Instead of playing with alot of immature people.

BYOND Staff can only ban someone from the BYOND hub, which as powerful as it is still allows someone to host their games; their servers simply don't appear in a hub entry, and they cannot create one, which is the entire point of such a ban to prevent. | |
Ok so we can make this type of game. We can make a hub for it, but cannot show content of what is in the game. Or is it you can't have a hub at all for a game like this?

I'm pretty sure you can't have a hub at all for that. What you can do is tell people about it and make a website and forums for it. Of course, don't spam people, etc.

Games of the mature nature cannot be advertised on the hub.

I would suggest looking for another 'platform' to make his game in since BYOND is mainly people 12-18 of age, any older and they are either coders or into fangames(naruto,dbz,bleach). An 'adult content' game in the way of nudity can be done, just dont show any content on HUB, and do warn people in the HUB of what the game contains. Ex. "Game name" Rated [A] For adult, etc.
But I do suggest using something like Java or .Net. Heck even Game Maker. In a way even with the design of it, think for real. A nudity game, for mature people? and they wanna talk to each other while playing this game? eh >.> yeah. Most of this type of games are single player and played in bars and such. Card games, puzzels,etc... But well good luck with your choice | |
As official of a stance as I can get it:
You are free to use BYOND to make whatever games you like; BYOND.com can't control your freedom of expression and we don't own anything you make. However, BYOND controls its website. While you are allowed to list a game with mature content, none of that mature content may appear within the hub entry itself. BYOND also appreciates/requests that specific content warnings are included in the hub entry (and also recommends that you don't make illegal use of the ESRB trademarks, of course). If mature content appears within the hub entry itself, the hub entry can be and/or will be suppressed (hidden) from searches and index pages or deleted outright. Have fun! | |
