Just use OpenOffice. It's free to use. If your school complains, complain back.

I DO use open office, but for the book it has steps on how to do something, and I can't (obliviously) use OpenOffice to do the Step by Steps.

Tell your school that if they require a $100+ piece of software, they need to give it to you. Especially if you are in high school. If my child(that doesn't currently exist) came home claiming his school required him to get proprietary software, I'd laugh and tell him he didn't have to do the work, and if the school complained I would give them an ear full.

If they want to give you time to do the work at school, than that is fine, but if they expect you to buy it, then they need to rework their lesson plan.

Well it's at the community college, and...
I just really need a trial version.

I'm pretty sure the trial is like 90 days, and since you format more often than that, it will be like the full version :)

Though, I run it inside of a Virtual Machine now, so..
(I only use the VM for Microsoft apps)
