Nah..Would be kinda hard to play..IF that was the real controller, I'd have to give up on Nintendo forever..That gives all the fans of other systems somethin to truly laugh at us Nintenfans about..0_0 "Hah..Gameplay revolutionized by a tv remote? Who woulda thought?"
|
It seems like a bit of a gimmick. At least the system is backwards compatible for controllers as well (I think).

I'm seriously doubting it..Gamespot would have info on it by now..I'd trust them before I ever trust the others..but if it is true, I would have to cease to be a Nintendo fan..That was the worst idea ever that took them so long to come up with..

Also, if you turn the controller sideways, it has a d-pad and buttons. It's like a real controller except it uses motion sensors and it also comes with an attachable joystick. It doesn't matter to me if you give up on Nintendo, but I'll have fun playing mine while you are missing out. Also, it won't change much. |
Ok..I'm seeing the light..If that was the WHOLE controller I would have to cease to be a fan..But with the add ons and the other potential add ons, I'm starting to like the idea..

Yipes! I don't like the look of it. I like some of the ideas(Like motion and tilt reconizations), but I want my 10+ buttons. I like having a D-Pad and an Analog stick. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of doing something different, stepping outside the box, so to speak. But I don't like people reinventing the wheel when the old wheel still works wonderfully.

Not afraid of change, we are? =P But yes, if you turn it sideways, it does act like an old NES style type controller. With a D-Pad, and buttons. And look what else? An attachable Analog stick. These things are all there, but they give us a new way to play games, and I can't wait to see what type of games they can think of. |
Here is a video link to a promo vid shown at the Tokyo Game Show (just scroll a bit down and click on the play button):
http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2005/09/16/443527.html I personally find it hilariously amusing - in a positive way. :-) I hope Nintendo really delivers the goods on this. splatty |
I did read the article first, I am not just spouting at the mouth. I don't like the basic idea. I still feel that a simi-large array of buttons is needed for enjoyable gameplay that is both indepth and flexable. Also, I, by nature, do a lot of moving while playing games. Rarely does it have any corilation with how I want something on the game to move(Well, everything cept for racecar games). What about when someone walks in your way, and you raise your arms in anger, then your mans jump off a bridge, game over... How is Mr. Miyamoto(However you spell his name) going to reconsile that?
Point is, the idea is good, but I think the implimentation is bad, and will problably not get as many sells as it should in the states, although they will probably sell like hotcakes in Japan. |

Point is, the idea is good, but I think the implimentation is bad But you haven't used it yet, so how can you tell? I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but do you honestly think that Nintendo didn't consider that sort of stuff when designing it? R&D don't just sit around thinking up ideas, the idea is just the starting point. What they really do is make ideas work. The wheel probably started out because someone had the idea that rolling a ball was much easier than pushing a flat object. The idea of rolling everything on balls wouldn't really work, so they would have had to come up with a way of attaching the balls to a flat surface. Once that was done there wasn't really a need for it to be a complete ball, so they would have chopped the sides off and called it a wheel. As for the problem of your hands moving while you're playing, think about it for a bit. If the motion detection is part of the game you'll be too busy controlling the game to let your hands move randomly. I often tap my thumb against the side of my leg when I'm idly listening to music, but if I'm writing while I'm listening to music it wont happen because my hands are too busy to do their natural reaction to music. |
While I can't recall where I read it, the "add-on" analog thing comes with the vontroller, and that the Revolution will support the Gamecube controllers as well
(Not specifially addressed to Novel Design) With both types of controllers accessible to play, those that don't like the new controller setup will probably be able to play games with the good ol' GC one anyway, so all of this "If this is real I won't like Nintendo anymore" stuff is ridiculous. |

I like having a D-Pad and an Analog stick. Well, in that case it's a good thing it has support for both a D-pad and an analog stick. Lack of buttons is an issue for some types of games, but since the controller is built to be extended in modular fashion there's nothing stopping them from making a peripheral add-on that's just a bank of keys (or even a full keyboard) for more FPS-style gameplay--you've got your ubermouse remote control in one hand, your keys with the other. I think the general message here is that they're trying to distance themselves from traditional computer gaming staples, though. I am somewhat concerned about how comfortable it would really be to use this sort of controller, but given my current finances I shouldn't have to worry about this problem much for at least 5 or 6 years. |
