I was just thinking; maybe Chatters could have an extra feature.

If all of the Gurus would pack up toghether, surely they'd be able to create a "pager" library.

Basically, what it can do, is send pager messages. If the game creator wants, s/he can set a variable to 1 and a (hidden) /page instruction will become usable. This instruction can be used to "page" someone.

Chatters could act as the central server. It could receive a savefile with the key who initiated the page, an encryption key (based on the IP address who's hosting, the key of the sender, key of receiver, and a preset token).

After that, Chatters should be able to watch the BYOND Hub for any games with that key in it. Is the key found in that game? Then contact the game and "ask" if it has the pager library. If it does, send the message directly to the server, where the person will receive the message in the same classic original manner as we do now.

After that, the server sends back a message, verifiying that the message has been received successfully.

This would make Chatters really popular, and such the library as well.

Face it. Some of us can't/aren't going to pay, and with such a service, we'd be able to send "pages" directly to Chatters.

Also, there could be an extra service: if the person is offline, or isn't found on the hub, it'll store the message and broadcast it later when s/he logs into Chatters.

I don't know. I just came up with it.
No; I'm not going to rant anything about how "OUR PAGER IS BEING TAKEN AWAY!!!!!!1111111". I'm very happy that I even got to use it for free; I even wondered myself, "How on Earth do they have so much money? Is Bill Gates involved into this?!".
Why should they bother?

If somone cant get the money to pay for a members sub, or cant get the money to DanTom. They could just do somthing work while, that might catch the attention of one of the kind donators.

Other than that, good idea.
Or some kind of library which you can use to send data to the Chatters server? A message would be sent to a person. A savefile could be used, and there could be an encryption key which varies per IP.
Since Chatters 2.0 will be open source, people could add in such a feature. The Messaging system should be sufficient for most people's needs, though.

I agree. The messaging should be enough, people just go nuts unless it is named "pager", even when they could use it greatly to their advantage.

Or you could just program your own 'pager'. Learn C++ and do it.

Heck, you don't even need C++. You can make on using VB quit quickly and easily.
