I'll be the cynic and bet that you will either 1) give up eventually (in advance of becoming 18), or 2) spend the first thousand you collect (again prior to 18) on either new computer games or computer stuff, or a card-game, or movies, or college tuition, or girlfriend, or Christmas presents, or something else that will drain that account pretty quickly -- meaning you'll be too tempted to spend the money you see there long before it reaches $20,000, let alone $1,000,000.

Your figure of "105,000,000 active web surfers" may be accurate, but thinking that each of these people would give you time of day, much less money, is a bit silly in my opinion.

At least 99% of those people don't know who you are, and unless you do a *lot* of work promoting yourself through internet advertising, being interviewed by websites that many people read, putting out signs, telling every new person you see (or giving them a flyer (which by-the-way will cost you money you don't currently have I'll bet) they will never know who you are and won't care - so you can elimnate that section of people right away.

SO...that brings you down to a more realistic value of 1,050,000 prospective suckers, er, I meant donators. At $1/person you still can break a million. But don't hold your breath.

To put salt on the wound, atleast 90% of *that* group will either 1) laugh at your attempt, then go back to reading their web comics/astrology reports/porn and forget about you, or 2) think "cool! I could do that!" and build a website of their own (which is quite likely - internet 'pan-handling/begging' has been popular for at least two years now) - thereby giving you competition for the 1,050,000 remaining prospects.

Now you are down to about 105,000 potentials. Sorry, $1/person does not add up to a million at this point.

But wait! There's more! Because there will be others who are begging too, you can eliminate those people from the list automatically because it is doubtful that one internet beggar will give his/her/it's "hard-earned cash" to another beggar. At just 1% (105 beggars), each of them are also vying for about 100,000 people (and maybe even the same people as your 100,000 people!) - further reducing your chances of getting money from the total 105 million surfers you hoped to get donations from.

So it's better in the time you have left to either: invent/design/construct something that actually makes it into production by the time you are sixteen (giving you two years to build up to a million dollars in royalties and profits - assuming you don't pay taxes, fees, or pay the people who produce the product for you), invest smartly in various stocks and hope they do well, or rob a bank.

If the donation model for earning money by begging would really work- we'd all be doing it, and subsequently ruining the idea at the same time by pumping people dry.

(oh, and if you sent everyone a post card, that would cut into your million wouldn't it?) :p

Actually, they did a study of bums and pan handling in the US, and some of the diehard bums can easily make over $100,000.00 a year. O.O

I do put forth effort towards thing that are likely to generate money. I cut lawns, I do odd jobs, I'm working on building up a profile to be a web designer eventually. I have had a couple of good ideas, but after I tried them they were either impossible, or already inventions.

I don't know what to say to you other than you don't like my website and that's ok, but I ask that you stop yelling at me and just leave it alone that I'm keeping the website. You don't have to donate. That's fine. Nobody has to donate, it's cyber-requesting.

I have 28.8 dialup, and his "site" loaded almost instantly for me.

I have a 56k capable modem, but the lousy phone lines out in the boonies don't support any more than about 26.4 kilobaud.

Pan handlers get money because people feel sympathetic for their bad financial situation, even if they actually are making $30,000 US (or more) a year. By the way they present themself, they can make themself look poor. If someone has enough money for a computer, internet connection, and website, they can't really pass themself off as being poor, just too lazy to get money any other way. So, people would be more likely to give money to a pan handler instead of some kid on the internet.
