I was woundering if Dantom would let me make a program like this. So it extracts DMI files from the rsc file with a click of a button and then saves them some were.
Ive been looking into it and might be able to do it. Even thow its a little hard to take.
Also in the Byond.rsc I was looking at it and all I can find is one games dmi files I thought all image files downloaded went in there?? This confuses me maybe you could tell me something Dantom.

Green Lime wrote: Yeah, that's the main concern. We wouldn't want to make this too easy, after all. On the other hand, I can see some advantages of being able to peruse the .rsc. We'll think about this issue, but we're certainly not going to act on it anytime soon. Much more useful would be some kind of documentation on the .dmi format so people could write add-on programs. Yes, that's on my list. The current .dmi format is a bit cludgy and not really worth documenting, since I plan to upgrade to a new, more versatile png-based format in the near future. It'll support 24-bit and arbitrary sizes, although you probably won't be able to actually take advantage of those features in your projects for a little while after that ... more of a planning-for-the-future deal. |

I would really like to see an add-on program that I could plug dmi files into and it would split each icon_state into two seperate icon_states, one with the odd pixels set to 192,192,192 and the other with the even pixels set to 192,192,192.... ~X |

This is where a password protection system could kick in. What would be great is if a programmer could password protect parts of their game so they can't be viewed unless a person has the password, this way programmers can release their programs for modding, but if they want to be reconized as the original programmer they could program something with logging to tell people who made the base for the game. Or, if a person wants a mapper they wont have to worry so much about their code getting stolen, like in Raekwon's and Dracon's cases(If that was the case, well however their coding leaked.)

Somone pretended to be our map maker, and convinced our Asst. GM that he was and got code. Was realy K'roses fault for not informing us first of his actions. RaeKwon |

Uh no, that would just suck ass. Look at what Gazoot is doing with Rockrunner, you can already make mods with that.

The only possible use for this would be to rip icons from someone else's game.
