I recoment playing MLAAS at least once. Its a well programmed game with decent game play.I dont like it much becausei dont like to stay in one game to long and the secred docs are hard to find there places. But besides that its a great game, play it at least 1 time.

I actually agree with this in some ways, but disagree in others. Most of the guru's are friends with each other, so thats why they play thier games. But they never tend to play games whose friends don't play. There are alot of reasons though. And I think there is a clique in BYOND but anybody can get it by: a) respecting people b) obeying the rules and c) being friendly/good person . For instance, I don't think all of the "guru's" have joined in my game. Some did, but not all. Its just what appeals to them. Here are some that have joined my game of the top of my head: Zilal (Once), Skysaw(Once), Enlgish comes on regularly, Gazoot checks out the game, Gughunter checks it out when he can, Shadowdarke comes on every now and then, hmmm thats all off the top of my head. I'd have joined it if I'd seen it in my pager (actually, I *did* join it once, but it was being hosted by Dan and Tom when they were trying to find that crash bug -- but that's not hosted by you). Generally, I don't check the Games Live! much, simply because I don't like browsing through 10 or so DragonBall Zeta games to see if anything reasonable is online. I used to join newbie games rather often, though I've dropped that frequency off considerably, considering that my "biggest fans" (I have many biggest fans, apparently) are always in them. |

on the last one, lode warz still doesnt have a byond hub id. I did visit Lode Wars, but only because I had already been keeping an eye out for it after reading Leftley's game page. I'll check out anything Leftley does, just because he has fresh ideas, and plenty of 'em! |

I agree I've barely seen ANY GUru's in playing my game ever really. I think it's just because they have their own little "club" and if you're not in it you're not cool haha. Nah I don't know but I have a feeling alot of them hold grudges and are still being little kids about what happened between me and Lexy. Well, I'm pretty good friends with a few of the "higher powered" BYOND programmers, and they don't play my games... mostly because they're 1) buggy, 2) boring, and 3) lame. So, if your game can avoid the above three characteristics, then lots of people will play it; though they still will have a grudge against you ;-). |
If you want to make a top-notch Monopoly ripoff, maybe you could add the option to import your own pieces sets and maybe even custom boards like Echelon does. I think that'd add a fun little twist to Monopoly... (Ooh, ooh, and rename the places too! Then I can buy Foomeria.)

Unforunately I'm guilty of not trying your games yet (or Medieval Conquest), but not for any of those reasons. Mainly because I haven't had much time lately to play games, and because I still haven't managed to kidnap Tom and force him to make a Mac OS X version of BYOND! The day that comes out is the day I increase my BYOND production tenfold, I swear... |
Not to be rude but you bought the Mac :P, just kidding at least its not a compaq, I will have my revenge compaq!!!

errr I keep forgetting you're lexy...
haha Sorry... ya I know but still I have people that come into my game and talk to me about the whole thing about how you didn't say anything bad and only I did... blah blah blah but ya so that's why I said that. Seems not everyone has given up on it. I personally don't hold any grudge against you except for the fact imperial realms is ALOT like the game Eternal War I had set to the side working on secretly !! GRRR!! Hehe oh well I have another project in mind since I don't have the time to try to make my game compare to yours... If it ever could. YOu're too organized and a damn good coder, plus you have a good education :) I have pretty original ideas just like you though... I was going to have my game very simular to yours, sorta like Utopia/Earth 2015 or whatever the other one is... Except fantasy based with monsters and such... I'm curious, anyone know why Nadrew didn't like me? I mean he was pretty random... he was nice to me and used to talk to me in IRC then one day he was all mean I am just curious what caused it. I thought itwas because of the thing between you and me awhile ago but I"m not sure. |

Why is it that when another respected byond coder makes a game, all the other well known and respected byonders flock to it? I never see them join other games to try them out. Well, never is obviously inaccurate. Nonetheless, I rarely play any BYOND game, and it's not just because I'm really busy. I am often busy, but I still take time to play games...just not on BYOND. Lately I'm playing Zeus, before that Baldur's Gate (which I still need to finish), before that Diablo II, before that Civilization 3...and I now have my eye on some games hitting the market, but I want to wait until I've played more of what I have. Why do I play those games and not BYOND games? Well, having recently played through many many BYOND games to review them for the channels, I can say: 1) They usually aren't finished. They usually aren't even really started. 2) They often have no instructions for playing, or poor instructions, or they just want you to wander around and figure it out. The latter is okay if the game really grabs you from the first instant, but if it doesn't, then what's the point in wandering around? 3) They don't give me motivation for playing. So I wander around and fight some stuff -- where is the hook right at the beginning that shows me I really want to play this game? 4) They usually require multiplayer, and I just want to play it myself, or try it before seeing if I can get a friend involved (I don't like playing with random people too often). 5) If they are multiplayer, they never support email turn-based, which is the best way I've found to play strategy games and such. Now that BYOND provides automated support for this, hopefully we'll see some games (and someday the DDT will add to that list!) 6) They don't tend to be aimed at my demographic. 7) Their interfaces or level of graphics often keep me from enjoying them. By level of graphics, I really mean "graphic appropriateness" -- one of the more fun little games to try out was done a while back with stick figures, and I loved it. The stick figures were perfect for the game they were a part of. But often the graphics just don't draw me in (some may say that makes me a shallow person, and if so it does -- it's just a description of something that keeps me from some games...if you look at my list of professional games above, however, *none* of them are even close to state of the art graphics). Not all of these are bad things -- some are just things that mean a game isn't something I personally want to play, but it might work well for others. |

Im making a Monoply game but its a DBZ version so you probably wouldnt like it More from the "bad DBZ jokes" file: Did you hear they're making a Monopoly edition for DBZers? It uses 200 dice so players can move faster, the jail square is called "detention", "Free Parking" is just "Free", and nobody can pay the rents. In the new DBZer Scrabble, the dictionary is meaningless, numbers are included, and players get the most points for shortening words to 2 or 3 letters. They made a DBZer Clue but had to take it off the market because the name was an oxymoron. In the new book "Hoyle's Guide To Poker Hands For DBZers", every section ends with "Whoever curses the loudest and longest wins." The DBZer version of Connect Four is a word game. Lummox JR |
If you stick a fork in an electrical outlet, just so you can glow a little and have your hair stick straight up... you might be a DBZer.
You might be a DBZer if, at a feng shui demonstration, you ask just how much ki needs to flow through your bedroom before you can go ssj. If, when told you need to have at least three characters in your name, you type in "GokuFriezaCell"... you just might be a DBZer. If sign into chatrooms and ask, "Age/sex/power level?"... you might be a DBZer. I'd keep going on about how sad and obsessed DBZ fans are, except that there's two hours of Buffy on and I'm afraid she'll be disappointed in me if I don't watch her. |
