For those of you who signed up to be invited to Google Wave, 100,000 invites are going out today, as confirmed by Google. A time has not been specified, but if you signed up, you may get one. Make sure to keep an eye on your spam folder, as it was reported that many invites went in there when developers got their accounts in July. Google also suggested that new Wave users would get invites, so if you get in and I don't, please let me know. I did sign up, but best to bet wide. If I get accepted and get some invites, I'll spread them around a little(family and close friends come first, but with gMail originally you got 10 invites that refilled themselves constantly, so if that's the case with Wave, I'll spread the love).
But to curb expectations a little, I saw a few people playing with Wave over the weekend and it was very prone to crashing(it wouldn't bring down the browser, you would just get a message saying to refresh the page). I hope that Google had a major update planned before this invite roll out, because it could be a PR disaster if it is a major problem with a more public showing like this. I am forgiving, especially when you realize how limited 100,000 people really is.

I requested invites and don't expect my family or friends to be interested, so I'm up for sharing as well.

Well, as for family there are only two people that would be interested, as for friends, maybe two more. So according to rumor of 8 invites per person, that will likely leave me 4+ to go around.
Also, still no word on the status. I haven't received anything yet, and no word on others getting one. However, looking in to it, this is different than what the developers got into in July. So hopefully the issues I mentioned in my first post have been taken care of. The developers haven't yet got their wave.google.com accounts activated either according to the Wave API Google Group. |
is there any place where i can find a description of google wave that isn't a 1 hour long video?

There is a screenshot tour. But the basics is gMail mixed with gTalk, mixed with gDocs. But of course, what the invite is to is the beta for the client, not for the protocol. The protocol is license free and meant to be a standard much like email. |

A quick update on the time tables. Don't expect invites for at least 4 hours, as the main developers are based in Australia, so they want to make sure they are awake for the roll out. You can all stop checking your gmail every 10 seconds :( |

So it seems. I really feel like I signed up fast enough, the invite reserve must have went in minutes back when the signup first opened.

Good news, I just got into Google Wave! Yay! I still have 6 invites to go around, but be forewarned, the invites are not automatic. They are still manual, which means it may still be several weeks before you get in even after I send you an invite.
So far it looks neat, but without any friends on it, there is little to do. |

Schnitzelnagler, Airjoe, and Hiro the Dragon King all get first dibs for saying that they too would share their invites. That does, however, leave one extra for the 4 I planned on giving out to the BYOND community, so that gives you one. Good job. I'll submit it now. However, just a reminder, you may not see anything for a week or more as all these invites are going out manually.

How did you manage in the end? ;) Danial.Beta wrote: I still have 6 invites to go around I wouldn't want to mulct someone of a chance who'd need it, but I would certainly love to try the beast. Since the forum lacks a private message function *sighs*, I'll leave you a note over at BYOND Help with an Email ;) |

Mine was an "organic" invite. I guess they just got to me in the queue for original people who signed up. People who are invited, sadly, do not currently get invites to send out.
That does mean, however, that if you feel like you signed up pretty fast after the announcement, you may still get one soonish. |

About when did you sign up (a date ;))?
I just had a look and there is no invite for me, but I found means to contact you in private *grins* So, you should have an Email ladled 'Google Wave' floating around your mailbox. |

Invite submitted.
I'm not sure the date I signed up, it was the day Wave was available for signup. That was like early spring or something, I really don't remember. |

Great and yeah, I doubt I made it it anywhere close to that :)
So, thanks a bunch! |

Thanks! I'll be sure to spread the wealth when mine arrives.

Should I not get an account myself and somebody got a spare invite, I'd gladly accept ;)
