Really, the show stopped being good after the new voice actors joined along and made everyone sound like crap.

Considering it's been out in Japan for like three days, yes, 5-8 months (Spring is March-June, by the way >_>) is quite a lot when even fan-translations can go by faster. fan translations are done by nerds/geeks/fans who have absolutely nothing else to do for days/weeks at a time. in a real company, i doubt all 20 are working the English translations (remember, we live in an *international* world), and it's doubtful they work on the same project at the same time. there are probably, at best, 1-2 dedicated English translators on this game alone. if they have other projects, then yes it could take 5-8 months. probably 4-5 to translate, and 2-3 months of proofing it with test gamers to make sure it all makes sense. |
I've seen the fan translations for Heart Gold/Soul Silver. They translated just enough to make the game playable - the pokemon and move names.

Thing is, the games aren't based on the show, it's the other way around. So maybe the show needs to be truer to the games and have turn-based battles. ;P
