...is single-player? (offline, not hosted)
Also, how about Scores and such? Or are those only for hosted games?

I find it hard to believe a game has to be online to give players medals and such, or else that'd basically kill singleplayer games.

It was never stated that it had to be online, just that an internet connection has to be made for medals and scores to go through.

Scores and medals require a connection to the hub.
Although it is possible to save your variables and set the medals/upload scores to the hub whenever you have access to the internet, assuming you don't have one while playing. |

Exactly. So, assuming that a connection to the internet is made, and that the world's hub var is set correctly, even if the game is not hosted, scores and medals should still be usable.

And even if an internet connection isn't available, you could still save the scores and potential medals into another file, then load and set the stuff when an internet connection is available.

Otherwise you can build an in-game medals/awards system if you want to allow a full offline game...however, to download the game anyways, they would have had to have internet and access to the hub to begin with. (Unless transferred by like usb and such.)
If you plan for true offline access and when get online to put medals online as well you can save in a savefile what medals to give out to who, and when internet access is returned to update the medals and all.
(However, I am not completely sure, I think even if not directly compatible you could make it contact a server with an online version and then update the medals that way I would think.)
