Well,
Recently i just got internet. which is a big step up for me. But i have a problem i only have 5GB of data transfer a month(i think this is correct). And I'm wondering if i play games on byond how big of a chunk is it gonna take out of my data transfer ammount. I know you have to download the games, which tends to be a few Mb at most. But I'm worried about stuff being sent during the games like sound packets and such. Is there really anything that could eat up my 5gb in a hurry on byond?

5gb is very little. Consider one game download on steam would wipe out your bandwidth.
Go easy on the youtube and such. I can't see a few byond gaming sessions taking up too much bandwidth. |
all right thank you all very much. Its a shame tho this is the biggest bandwidth verizon offers tho(There commercials are a lie(the one with the guy gaming)). Alright thank yall.

Do you live in an area other than the US? My family has unlimited bandwidth to my knowledge, and our ISP is Verizon.
|
I live in the U.S., the thing is tho i'm using a black berry storm as my modem, using Verizon access.
|
That's your problem. You shouldn't really use a phone as a modem, it's probably slower than a wired line as well. Get some actual service, like Verizon FiOS or DSL, you have unlimited (or near unlimited) data transfer, and probably much better speeds.

YEs, but this is a good fix, i live out in the stixs with a limited income. I reckon it will have to do.

Yeah, 5GB is nearly unlimited for most cell phones, currently. But for a desktop, well, I legally downloaded about 15GB last night, and probably will download at least 3GB tonight, and who knows how much I eat up playing games and surfing sites like youtube.
There are, however, bandwidth monitoring programs out there. I can't recommend a specific one, but they exist. Because Comcast recently placed a cap on their monthly bandwidth, a good search might be "comcast bandwidth monitor windows". |
