Figured we havn't had one of these in a while, and it gives me a chance to show off my new setup! :)

(There are two things BYOND in this picture, find them and win a cookie!)

Bluebook and mouse thingy. I want meh cookie.

Anyways I'll get mine up in a bit.

[EDIT] My desktop pic is currently a pic of myself. So here :

You crazy people with your tidy desks. This is what a real desk looks like!:

Light isn't that great at the moment, hence the orangeyness and general poor quality. Plus it's from a phone camera. I really need some new lightbulbs in here.

Your stuff's too nice, Flame. :(

As for me, I technically have two desks in my room (a third if I count my roommate's desk). I'll post both of mine.

Proving one NOS can at a time that energy drinks can substitute for entire dinners---sometimes for a day's worth of food, even. Unfortunately, my campus has a bias to Coke products and lacks the good energy drinks.
[Edit: As a side note, if any of you recognized this book on my desk under the near-empty Powerade bottle, or any other go-related books or devices, you win!]

I usually just use my bed as a desk (during daily use, blankets are kicked to the foot of the bed). Note that tonight I'm having peanut butter for dinner. :)

Sorry about the quality; they were taken on my phone, and there is not much lighting in my room right now since my roommate is asleep.

There's no such thing as having too tidy of a room :)
I see you've got a big C++ book there -- now you're going to be able to contribute to Wine, right? :-)

They're there for show, I havn't actually had the chance to read them... :'(

You can send them to me for Christmas, I've been dying for some good C++ books but I can't afford any. I'd use them, promise! =P

Make sure you contact some professors at universities within travel distance that have CS programs. They'll be cycling their books and selling their old ones at some point, and those books go for a dime a dozen. Last year I picked up books on a bunch of subjects, most of them crappy and outdated, but I only had to throw down a couple bucks to do so.

Merry Christmas.

I can't stand reading books or even just Uni work assignments on-screen. Maybe if I had a second monitor I'd be able to stomach it, but I want all of my screen space for the work and the document I'm reading available all the time without covering up what I'm working on.

We use dualscreens at my office, and it works fantastically for working on something while referencing something else. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it. That, however, does not help when reading pages and pages of a book, so it's not quite as good as a paper copy. Once again, if you can afford it, ebook readers are actually pretty good these days, and Sony's is supposed to be actually designed well.

The nice things about ebook readers is that you get the advantage of reflection lighting(like a book) while still having access to anything that can be converted to a PDF. So suddenly, even web tutorials come in an easy to read package.

Like Hazman I'd have one or two empty cups of tea balanced precariously on the side of the desk, but I have guests coming round so I've made a bit of an effort.

Regarding the weird POV-style hand: my webcam needs to be activately manually, so I kind of had to sit like a total dweeb and duck out of the webcam's way.
Just imagine it as though you might actually be me when I'm actually using my actual computer.
