After a whois trace.

Administrative Contact:
Hehre, Tom [email]
[address]
[phone]
Technical Contact:
Wilkerson, Nathaniel [email]
[address]
[phone] Fax: [fax]

That's a very weird first name you got Tom.
(And I assume the Tech Contact is for Nadrew...)

That's because Hehre is his last name.

Nope, not mine. You can find my information from the nadrew.com domain, although it's a little out-dated since I don't have a permanent address right now.
You'll find it's common that people will put their surnames first on important documents. To verify my defails, most of the time I'll find forms are layed out like:

Name: McDonald, Lee David
Age: 18

etc.

Huzzah! I use private options with my registar to prevent people from contacting me directly. Dream Host gives this for free. GoDaddy wanted to charge me $18. I actually did get a phone call from a BYONDer because of my information in one of my domains one time. It was annoying.

Nobody likes their personal info being given out. Use some common sense before you post next time.

I don't really care if my information is public, never really bothered me. If someone wants to call me good for them, not like I talk much =P.

i make it a point never to verify my defails.

But is that Tom's real phone number and addresss?
Man that's creepy.
In response to Flame Sage
Well, seeing as it pointed to a PO Box I think it's quite unlikely that that was his actual address. BYOND also has an office near where he lives, so the address of that is just as likely to be on anything he is registered to.
In response to Flame Sage
Why? It's standard WHOIS info.
In response to Hazman
right. besides it's Dan who is in a box, not Tom.

Quite so, looking up tibbius.com once gave my full name, mobile phone number, work number, address, date of birth and my email.

I don't really care about my personal information.

and the point here is that Tom probably does, therefore it was removed from a public forum.

any reason to keep this post open?

Any reason to close it? There's no flaming or slurs against anyone. No real reason to pull mod-jumbo on a post which doesn't break any rules.

Now I think about it, I didn't see any reason for [link] to be locked either.

My domains have private whois, but that's only because DreamHost does it for free.

So does Hostmonster. I'm fairly sure I have it enabled for supportipd.com and tiberath.com. But tibbius.com might still display information. I'm not sure, and as previously stated, not really caring either. =P

There you have it folks, Dreamhost and Hostmonster will hide your information. Though, I don't much care for Hostmonster. It's support is crap =(

threads are not always closed or deleted because of rule-breaking. when the thread has run it's course, and provides no more information or usefulness, it has no real need to remain open. in this case, the topic was presented, edited out of respect to Tom's privacy, and answered.

'nuff said.

'nuff said.

But the topic has evolved into two more conversations since it's initial creation. One based on the necessity to lock topics and the other based on WHOIS information and which domain registrars will hide it. When given the chance, a topic can evolve into something more than it was originally intended. Instead of making another thread based on WHOIS information and another one based on why posts should and should not be locked, they could be kept inside the original post. Thus is the nature of conversation.

There is never "'nuff said". =P

It was kind of a bogus thread from the beginning, since wide-open polls like that are discouraged, but it was burnt out and then revived a couple of weeks later. Following that pattern it could continue indefinitely. But since its more recent head of steam had also run out, it seemed like a good time to drive in the stake.
