I think they do...they scream.

I've never heard a lobster scream, or anything to that effect.

It could be nothing more than a sort of "whistle" caused by steam exiting their shells... Might not be anything the lobster itself is physically doing...

The whole "can't feel pain" thing has been done to death, and I'm honestly surprised there's any doubt as to whether any beings can't feel pain. All multi-celled organisms have nerve clusters which are designed to make them react to physical damage. This is the exact definition of pain. If a being avoids physical damage, then it is obvious that it is put under distress by pain and physical damage.
For instance, many people object to harming "sentient animals", but Taoist philosophy holds that all animals are sentient. (Sentient, not sapient, mind you. Only humans are sapient.) |

Not all lobsters scream, just some. I think you can tell the difference between a lobster screaming and steam exiting a shell.

Yes, I agree humans are cruel in many other things, but at least for the things you've mentioned, they kill them because they actually need them, to eat them. Those Japanese don't actually eat the dolphins (right..?), it's just some ridiculous, cruel, stupid holiday.

I don't know the details of the situation but I don't think so, and it says in the end of the video that their meat is sold and that many dolphins being fished looks more like farming for food than anything else. They would probably also be doing a lot worse to the dolphins if it wasn't just for food. They aren't "mercilessly butchered alive", they're still being killed efficiently and THEN butchered. As I understand it, anyways.

For example: in the movie The Day After Tomorrow, when the storm was coming and killed like those 300 people walking I could careless, I was like "whatever, it is just a movie, that main character guy told them not to leave and they did not listen, they are stupid and it is their fault." But when the dog almost got froze to death I was like "NO!". I felt bad for the dog the entire movie. >.> |

Same here.
Animals aren't really smart enough to even be evil, but with people, it's like half or more of our population is selfish and evil. I mean, you have to stick up for your own species because that's just natural and it's great to think we'll progress further than the other species, but generally I hate to see animals suffer/die if it isn't necessary. |
I don't see the issue here. Do you know how most animals are slaughtered? A lot of times it isn't a nice way to die.
My uncle used to have a hog ranch, and they would catch the pigs, tie them up by their feet, and then cut their throats and let them bleed dry, then boil them to remove the little hairs off the hides. He also used to slaughter chickens by cutting their heads off and then letting them run around. This lets the body "run" the blood out of the system. You need to think about that the next time you eat any kind of meat, because it was killed in some sort of way. The narrator never says why they do this. There could be several reasons why they do it. And it is far from torture, it isn't like that go out of their way to make sure the Dolphins are hurt. They catch they, cut them and kill them. Just like a lot of animals that are caught. When I used to catch fish, we used to drive a nail through their eye (FISH) to kill their brain before we would skin them and fry them up. I also like how the Narrator thinks that everyone has to live by the world's standards. Like anyone really has any business to tell anyone else how to live. Each culture is unique and has it's own Traditions and culture and it needs to be respected just like anything else. I agree that they perhaps have not did the killing in the best fashion, but it isn't fair to piss and moan about it, when we didn't even get the other side of the story. |

I don't give a damn. They are there for me to eat them, not for me to cuddle them and care.

... Don't really eat all that much Panda. My doctor told me to cut down, so I don't really care.
I know this makes me a terrible person. But I simply don't care about the state of the world, or what it will be like in 200 years from now. I don't care if all the forests will be cut down, or the world will be flooded by massive tidal waves due to the green house effect, because it won't be around when I am alive. Not to mention Earth is most likely going to be destroyed by nuclear war first. Animals eat animals. It is a simple fact. Why the hell should I stop eating meat because some jerk thinks it is wrong? I will stop eating meat when they teach Lions to become vegans. I have no problem with people if they are veterinarian, but the last thing I need is some jerk trying to pressure me into changing my way of life for them. When I was going to school, my psychology class (My Teacher and Books) actually suggest that if it weren't for meat, that mankind would have evolved completely differently then how we are today. And while some people may argue that could be a good thing, I am proud to be a tree cutting, animal abusing, wife hitting, meat eating human. |

Yes they are, especially outside the US, but torturing is being used pretty loose here. They don't slit their throats to torture them, they do it because it's efficient, not because they want them to be in pain at death. Slitting one's throat isn't really that bad. It gets rid of the blood and is almost painless, but what they are doing to the dolphins looks terrible. They drag them, chained to vehicles, across the roads, slit their entire chest, let them sit there and writhe, suffocating, and I couldn't really get past that part. If it were me, I'd simply take one chop and cut off the head like a Guillotine. And stop saying "japs" like they're all like that, you sound like my grandpa. Sorry. I'll stop. |

Since when did the rest of Europe ever stop hating Jews? 0.o
That will never succeed. In America, we just don't care about Jews unless the one caring is a Jew himself. We care about our citizens. That's just how religiously tolerant we have to be. Of course, the exception is if you have a Middle-Eastern-esque religion or you look Middle-Eastern. :P |

Well while I agree it could be done in a better fashion, perhaps that is just the *best* way that they can currently do it?
The film states they harvest a lot of Dolphins, so I would count Guillotines out of the question. They would either have to wait in long lines, or have a ton of Guillotines sitting around. Right now, what they are doing seems the cheapest, fastest, method. Also Dolphins are rather big, so they would either have to use really big dump trunks to transport them, or drag them on the ground. Either way people are going to complain. There is no *good* way to kill something. So you just do it and get over it. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for preventing unnecessarily suffering (and yes, animals do feel pain). I just find the screaming claim hard to believe. |
