Is this what the whole site is going to look like in the future?
PLEASE tell me you guys are planning on fusing developer.byond.com and games.byond.com back together..
I really like the new layout though :)

You know what I hate?
splitting up BYOND... We have no need for 3 different sections (games, developer, and members) I wish they were fused together, like back in the old days... | |
I love it, infact, I wish all of the BYOND site looked like this. It was so easy to browse through.

I don't remember the Dev section and Games section ever being one. It's always for as long as I've been here been two parts.

Deadron no afence but i don't like that :s its to plain the old template was fine i don't think there was a need to change it at all.

The only thing I don't like about the new page is that I actually have to go through another level of indirection to get to the games page. Other than that, it's awesome. It also has my favorite game on the front page, so it's cool by default.

I appreciate the idea behind it, but I think the colour scheme needs work. There's WAY too much orange. It was okay when it was just a sidebar and it was offset with other colours more, but the full-screen orange is too much.
I'm also not a fan of the darker orange gradient strip at the top. I think it clashes. The banner at the top leaves something to be desired as well. | |
Ideally they should have taken something like http://games.byond.com/start/ and simply updated it, rather than than having a completely different page for "What is BYOND?". Hell, simply by centering the tabs on the current byond.com page and throwing it into that page (in place of the existing) would look a hell of a lot better.
Then simply have the behavior for people who are already logged in to be to display the current "Play games" page by default, which leaves things to function pretty much as they are now, while still providing new players a more newbie-friendly starting place. [Edit] Something similar to this (and of course something for that nice white-space above it). | |
It kinda looks like something I'd see from a Byond member journal, when I think about it.

I like the new look and it will be much more helpful for new comers but since people who have been using BYOND for a while may not like it maybe do someting like this, I know that the site knows who I am since it says Hello, Calus CoRPS! So if you are logged in already on the site when you go and visit it then it brings you to the old page, but if you are not logged in, then you may be a new comer so it will bring you to the new page.
