It was a pretty shaky situation yeah, but did anyone of the U.S. actually die?

Not the country, the nation.
The Native Americans were seperate from our nation.

maybe, but they were *in* the newly formed nation that basically engulfed them. and depending on when and where you were slaughtered, your tribe was first offered citizenship/land/reservation-space and if you hesitated or refused (and for good reason) then the local goverment/army says 'ok, we changed our mind - *BANG*'.

while the deaths of the folks during 9/11 is sad and tragic, to gratify it with a day off from work or school is just plain stupid, especially when the U.S. has caused far more damage in the world than it has received.

maybe there should be 'guilt-holidays' - where you work longer or stay in school longer.

:p

I believe they call that "overtime". :D Heaven knows the number of times I heard my mom talk about being guilted into coming in on days off and working extra hours to fix mistakes other coworkers made.

Anyway, I don't agree that it should make for a day off. I'm going to have to look it up now, but at the time of this post I don't know the meaning behind Labor Day. Having a day off wouldn't encourage it for me.

Yeah they call it overtime...or detension >.>

Yeah the bay of pigs fiasco was a failed invasion attempt by Kennedy and like they all died.

Oh, I didn't realize that the Bay of Pigs was part of the missile crisis. Wasn't the invasion force made of Cubans, and they thought that they'd rally up the people in Cuba to help? Didn't work out so well I guess. :(
In response to Artekia
Yes, It was all Cubans, and No the Bay of Pigs was not part of the missile crisis.

Well, it's true- there were no American casualties.
Not a holiday, a memorial day...
Eventually, we probably will have a day off from school to act as a memorial day. The day is already known as "Patriot Day" however we still have to attend our classes.

You disgust me.

United states citizens are clearly the only people who have souls.

You are unbelievable. Not only do you offend the world, but the people who died so you can have your day off from the 10th grade.

When the heck did I support this idea? Read a little better next time, buddy.

If I'm talking about a situation where only X people apply, I'm not going to take Y people into account.
In response to JordanUl
Likewise, I assure you. Now please, post something constructive.

When you defended the idea of making 9/11 into a national holiday.
