Why is FF9 considered the worst FF game in the main series? I always thought it was one of the better games...
As did I, many people going crazy over FFVII though.

I'll never know what makes FFVII so great, FFVI and FFVIII are the best.
It was the first PS game that I bought and I was hooked from the start. In my opinion, it's a good game, decent gameplay, good storyline, nice character variety...
Because the main character isn't really the strongest; he's a nice thief, but people are too power hungry so they don't like it that way.

Yeah, but the most complaints I hear are about Kuja. I think Kuja is the best boss thier is, and could woop Sephy anyday. I mean, sure, Seph has that giant katana, but Kuja has a LEGION of Dragons, Black Mages, limitless magic, and the ability to go SSJ4!
Hmm..I don't really know but that was one FF PS game I hadn't played..

In my opinion, Sephiroth was of questionable sexuality. Kuja just took it one step further. :D
Those people are morons.

I loved Final Fantasy 7, it kept with the same style and feeling, while breaking new ground in the series itself. It was one of the best role playing games on the PSX.

Now I disliked Final Fanatsy 8 for a number of reasons. The fact that you earned Gil like a job. The way once you missed a summon you could never get it. And the way magic worked. I also disliked how life like the series looked.

I was very pleased with Final Fantasy 9. It came back with the nice anime included, cartoony feeling and went back with a better system and gameplay. The music and the graphics were fantastic and I will always reguard FF9 as a great RPG.

Kuja, I could understand, but how could you question Seph?
But Kuja is still better than Seph =P
I agree, FF8 was one of the worst in my opinion. First FF game I bought. FF9 was really welcomed to me because it went back to the roots of FF6.

I liked FF8 the best. It displayed an excellent story. It was filled with love and emotion, action and adventure.

Actually, some of the GFs you missed you could always go back and get them. And, you didn't earn money like a job. It was a job. You were a trained mercernary in the feild of gunblades.

Yes, the story was awesome, along with the movies. The battle system and customization were terrible in my opinion.

The only thing I didn't like was the magic system.

And FF9 was great. It was the first FF game I bought. The story was excellent. I loved how the characters all got along and cared for each other. The feel of that game was great.

Someone then reccomended that I play FF7 and I wasn't too big a fan of that game. It had an excellent story, but it just wasn't for me.

I agree, I (believe) the chain goes like this for top 3 FF games:

1) FFIX
2) FFVI
3) FFVIII

Of course, most people disagree.

First off, there were a number of GFs you could never unlock again and those were GFs that were added into Boss battles or areas you couldn't go back to again. So no, you couldn't go back and get them all later on.

Second off, you did earn money like a job because exactly what you said it was. Hey, when I need extra money sometimes I don't have a month in game time to wait. I hated the system.

Finally the story wasn't fantastic at all. It was the same, over used crap that appears in every single role playing game. The fact it even inlcuded a witch made it even worse. It made me feel like I was playing like a bigger version of Hansel and Grettle.
Final Fantasy 9 is very, very, very, VERY good. I loved it. I still have it too and have been wanting to play it for sometime on a new file. However, the opening cutscene freezes at a certain point no matter how many times I've cleaned it with my game doctor. With my graduation money though, I called up my aunt who uses eBay and got one earlier today for $21 and later on tonight (at about 9) she is bidding on a Final Fantasy 7 game for me and I am paying her when she comes by one saturday. I've been hearing a lot of fuss over FF7 so I said what the hell. I played it before and got to a thing called Jenova or something and didn't know to use fire so I am good for that part now. :D[

Anyways, much love to FF9. Excellent story, combat, etc. I loved how it stuck with the old, kinda medievalish look and didn't throw in much technology. I love games like that. FF8 was fine (storyline-wise) up until it started getting all wierd with the different dimension and time sorceress, etc. I got completely lost within the story and didn't understand when they explained something one bit.

Exo's ratings:
FF9 - Perfect 10
FF8 - 6 1/2
FF7 - Not rated yet.

I dunno which of the PSX games I liked most plotwise, but I liked FF9's system the most. I really liked how you couldn't make all of your characters the same like in FF7 and FF8 (They even had systems to switch their materia/junctions to give your same character a new sprite)

The FF8's money system really bothered me, except instead of having to wait a long time to find money like someone said, I always had too much, because the SeeD tests to raise your rank/wage were way too easy to pass since you didn't get penalized for missing questions.

I also liked how FF9 brought armor back. I'm not sure how flame-resistant Zell's T-shirt was :( Armor is a good thing to have when you're saving the world from a bunch of monsters that just spawn from almost nowhere. Especially those Iron Giant things with the swords as wide as your characters are tall. I'd want armor also if I saw one of those, reguardless of whether or not Cloud or Squall did.

Armor is for chumps. =P

She wasn't a witch, she was a Sorceress. And anyone who played the game fully could tell that it wasn't just like any other RPG. It was very different with twists all over the place.

And if you needed money, you could always highten your income by taking those tests. I received the top income last time I played.

For number 1, I never said you could unlock them all. I just said you could go back and unlock them. A reasonable number of GFs you could go back and unlock. You can even get hidden GFs. I remember going to fight Odin, and he decided to help me. I checked my GF list and I was like "WTH? Where is he?"

Later, I went to fight Sephiroth when the SeeD Garden crashed into the Ragnarok ship. Odin came out and Seifer killed him. But then, after about 2 more turns, Gilgamesh came out and BAM! He killed Seifer. You get Gilgamesh in that specific battle I suppose, so I know what you mean.

2. It wasn't like a job, it was a job. I see what you mean though. You're job was a mercenary. You could, however, like any reasonable person, go fight monsters if you needed money. Hell, you can even level up at the same time.
