I was thinking of making a seriously massive game with a HUGE map and countless monsters, weapons, items, ect. Lots of cities and towns and villages. I'll also add alot of classes, each with different abilities and stats. My question is about this: What if the cities were owned by players? Then, large guilds of people can capture empty cities, or make a hostle takeover of an already owned city. Over time, guilds might be able to get big enough to control multiple cities.

What are your thoughts about this idea? The game? Any other ideas? What about lag due to the sheer size of the game? Any suggestions or help will be great
And a guiat Bunchie comes to raid a town and people have to kill it but its cool so everyone lets it kill em..

a bunchie, huh? I'll try it!
I like that idea. I was actually going to do something similar to that in my RPG as well. The owners of the cities would regulate trade and such.

Of course, I couldn't have people getting rich off of this too easily. The money the town got would go to the leader's gold room (acting as a vault). Trade with that city would fail if there was no money in the vault. Because the shopkeepers depend on the gold supply in the vault to buy items from players, there needs to be money in there.

I would make it extremely hard to take a castle though. I might make guards almos tunbeatable to place in there. People would have to take the grounds by groups.

It's very complicated, and I dunno how I'm going to do it yet.
Bigger != better.

Your statement holds true, Mr. Elation.

By this testimony, we can clearly state that quality is better than quanity.

Having a large map with a bland lay out will not work well. If it's huge and detailed with many secrets to beheld, awesome. If it's huge and empty/some poor copy and paste job...no.

I havent thought of the trade idea, a very good one. I'm definatly adding it, thanks alot. Also, I like the idea about the vault and shopkeepers, I could even make it so the funds go toward improvments to the city, defenses to the castle and/or city, or improvments to the warrior's weapons and armour.

good point, I'm going to make the game have very well thoughout areas. I'm also going for a more natural touch and make full scale forests intead of little forest mazes, or like in FF when you are huge and travel the landscape fighting random monsters. I'm going to have forests with villages and such, and not place the trees in specfic places like fences, I'll block off areas using cliffs or ledges(but not create any kinds of paths with them like fences also), which can be walked around or climbed on or something. Then add the caves too. Plus, various kinds of plants to avoid repeating.

Now that's an excellent idea. Funds for the improvement of the city, I like it a lot.

You need to supply screenshots are actual material for it to be under Creations.

I advise you delete it before someone posts in it.

Actually, no. That's not the rule.

Creations is supposed to be for showing off completed creations, whether there are screenshots or not.

Kind of.

Sort of.

I started on the game (finaly) and added a grest battle system in which you select the "attack" command to attack an enemy and numbers above the enemy appear to show how much damage was inflicted. I also created a few basic stats and classes (warrior, wizard, ect.) and a stright projectile spell (which I haven't named).

if you have any ideas/opinions about the battle system or anything else, please tell me. I also NEED some monster ideas, including the first monsters. Please try to be a little original (no slimes or giant rats or goblins). A few spells would be nice too...

Why do people troll the forums? Your rude comments aren't welcome here at all.
I was wondering how I was going to give ownership of cities to players and I thought of something. What if each city had a deed, a kind of certificate of owership giving that player his great powers over the city. This would not only solve that problem but also make towns something that can be traded and have a selling value to players.
